After the glacier we set about finding a way out of El Calafate and to Bariloche by Christmas (3 days away). We exhausted all possibities and finally found a and in the hopes that we could find an ongoing bus to Bariloche we settled on a flight to Commodoro Rivadavia, the closest destination we could get to (Incidently, Commodoro is NO WHERE NEAR Bariloche), when we arrived we headed to the Terminal and found all buses to Bariloche were full until after Christmas, we were sunk. That is until Darryl went back to the ticket window and opened with �Perdona, mi espangol est horribl�, tiene una autobus a Bariloche ma�ana noche�, apperently endeared by his Spanglish (with a bit of Franish mixed in), the ticket man was able to �locate� the last two seats on the next bus to Bariloche.
Once in Bariloche we were treated to a great Christmas BBQ, in Argentina the really do it up on Christmas Eve and at midnight they all pop the champagne (or something close) and toast to Feliz Navidad, it�s a bit like a practice for New Years, but I�m sure it made baby Jesus happy. After that we undertook 3 days of incredible (and at times incredibly difficult) mountain biking around Bariloche, Villa de Angustura and San Martin de Los Andes. Here are some pics. |

I�ve got the whole thing on video...but did not jump myself as I have a hefty respect for heights (read: phobia of). |

Allong the road was a Cemetario de Montagnes, it contains mainy plaques of those lost in the Andes and other ranges over the last century.
(only solidifying my...um...respect for altitude). |
