James Patrick
- James Patrick (b. circa 1825 - d. ABT 1887)
- Born in Virginia. I believe he was born on the was side
of the mountains, because the census before the Civil War
he has Virginia listed as place of birth and after the
war he has West Virginia. He married Nancy Elizabeth
Dye (b. May, 1828 - d. Jan 01, 1916) on Apr 18, 1847 in
Jackson Co., Ohio. They had 9 children. She was born in
Wood County, Virginia, later West Virginia. He was listed
as a farmer and Nancy was a housewife according to census
records. They lived in Clinton Twp./ Vinton Co. between
1850 and 1860, then moved to Milton Twp./ Jackson Co.
somewhere between 1860 and 1870. I have a copy of a map
of Milton Twp. from 1875 that shows where they could have
possibly lived. On the 1870 census it was noted that
James could not write. The family household census was
from 1850 to 1880, the 1890 census had been destroyed in
a fire in Washington, D.C. and is not available for
research. As of this moment I have yet to find a death
date or final resting place for James. I do know that
James died before 1900 because Nancy is listed living
with her son James H. Patrick as a widow, according to
the census. Nancy died on Jan 01, 1916; here is her
obituary as it appeared in the Wellston Telegram on Jan
05, 1916:
