| Don't just be a tool (君子不器) | |||||||||||||
| December 26th, 2007 Hi Richard, There were 3 brick-laying workers working under the hot sun in a street. One kept complaining about the work, the heat, etc. He hated the job. He had no choice but just did it to earn for a living. Another worked hard with no complains. He did the job accordingly to what he was asked to, and of course, for a pay. The third one also worked very hard. He did it with fun and proud. When you asked him why he was doing this, he could tell you that he was building a church. Is it interesting that for the same job, different people would take it differently? Who do you think would have the most of the job satisfaction? Who do you think would be more successful in life? The Confucius said, "Good people don't like just being a tool (君子不器)." They could always recognize a higher vision and mission than others. With love, Patrick |
