| Don¡¦t judge it by its label (¾Ç¤§»Ùê:¦¨¨£) | |||||||||||||
| May 6th, 2008 Hi Richard, Knowledge and experience are very useful. However, if used incorrectly, they would lead us to biased or prejudiced judgments. Once upon a time, there was a king. He had a favourite minister, who served him very respectfully and did contribute a lot to the country. One day, it was the king's birthday. All other ministers came to the palace and congratulated the king. Only this minister didn't show up. Initially, the king was not happy. While he learnt that the minister's mother was in critical illness and the minister had to stay home for looking after his mother. The king not only forgave him but also praised him for his kindness and love. Many years later, there were a few incidents that had changed the king's mind about the minister. He didn't like the minister and started to believe that the minister had betrayed him. He recalled the event that the minister did not come to celebrate his birthday as the proof of his betrayal. At the end, the king sent the minister to jail. Richard, many people connect things by their label or image. They assume that good people will always do good things and bad people will always do bad things. They fail to recognize the uniqueness and independency of each individual event. With love, Patrick |
