When they rebuild a road in Maine, they REALLY rebuild it!  This is the oft-stripped Route 9 on the way to the US-Canada border at Calais.
We just HAD to stop at the gorgeous East Quoddy Light on Campobello Island, New Brunswick.  When we arrived, the tide was high, preventing access to the light, which is only accessible by a peninsula that forms during low tides.
This cute little mink was one of the residents of the privately-run Upper Clements Wildlife Park.
These caribou/reindeer are denizens of the government-run Shubencadie Wildlife Park.  Overall, Shubencadie had somewhat nicer accommodations for their animals (note the built-in fan in the photo).
These three well-fed raccoons also reside at Upper Clements.  Pat's watch is also prominently featured in the photo.
We were really impressed by some of the animal habitats at Shubencadie Wildlife Park.  Here a pair of moose cool off in their own private pond during an unusually hot day.  The moose have been provided a spacious area, including a walk-in structure that allows them to take shelter from rough weather.  Being major moose nuts, we probably shot a roll and a half of 35mm film at the park!

It was hot and hazy when we arrived in Cape Breton Island.  This shot of Saint George's Channel on the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes would be a whole lot more spectacular on a clear, sunny day.  While stopped at the overlook we met a couple of traditional Celtic fiddle fans from near Antigonish, and had a good time talking Cape Breton music!
A couple scenic views from the Mabou area in southwest Cape Breton Island, including the Mabou Highlands and Mabou Harbour.
Another shot of the sunset on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, from the McDougall monument in Inverness.  A similar sunset there on June 20, 1997 saw us get engaged at the site.
Two Cheticamp area shots, the first being a view of the Cheticamp Island lighthouse from aboard the whale cruise we took, and the second showing the nearby coastline and the effect of a clear, sunny day and blue skies on the water.
Shots from our sailing excursion from Lunenburg.  First, a crooked photo of the colorful Lunenburg waterfront (in the photographer's defense, the ship WAS rocking!).  Second, Pat helps hoist sail.
