Recovery from addiction is not fast or easy,
but we're doing it at Pate House,
One Day at a Time... One Man at a Time

SERVICES PROVIDED:

Pate House is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive residential drug and alcohol treatment to men in Santa Clara County, helping them recover from addiction and return to full participation in society as clean and sober citizens. Pate House, Inc. operates a State licensed Primary Program and a County Certified Sober Living Environment for men.

Pate House has been in the community since 1978. Both the Primary Program and the SLE are well maintained and located in quiet residential neighborhoods near downtown San Jose. Residents learn responsibility to society as part of their own personal recovery, and the Board of Directors sets an example by ensuring that Pate House is a good neighbor.

PROGRAMS:

Primary Program - A typical stay is 90 days. Our residents are engaged in employment or education opportunities during the day and participate in classes, counseling, and meetings in the evenings and on the weekends. Socializing and sharing in the upkeep of their home is also included in the program.

RESIDENTS:

Residents range from the ages of 18 - 62. They are recovering from problems associated with abuse of alcohol or other drugs. They accept responsibility for their own recovery. No one is denied admission based on race, color, religion, national origin, or lack of past success in maintaining sobriety

Most residents are working, seeking work, or attending school during the days. In the evenings they attend in-house meetings and community 12-Step meetings, share in the upkeep of the house, and socialize in the drug-free environment at the house.

Residents pay their way at Pate House. The cost is deliberately low to be affordable yet cover room and board and help residents learn responsibility.

GROUP COUNSELING:

The problems of alcohol and drug abuse are common to all substance abusers. Pate House group counseling helps point out the similarities and show how problems have been solved in the past

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING:

Recovery from alcohol and other drug dependency is an individual responsibility. Pate House provides all the support and the best possible environment for this process, but each man is personally responsible for his own recovery and sobriety - one day at a time. Individual counseling is sometimes necessary, and the director or other trained counselors are available to discuss problems in complete confidentiality.

RECOVERY CLASSES AND 12-STEP MEETINGS:

Residents are required to attend open and closed meetings both at Pate House and in the community. The recovery process at Pate House is solidly based in the 12-Step model of recovery.

FEES:

Primary Program - $35/day - includes room and board, programming, group and individual counseling

Sober Living Environment - $25/day - includes room, monitoring, random bottling, reporting to necessary agencies

But How Does It Work? Is There Some Kind Of Structure?
