The AIDS quilt in Washington D. C., probably the largest quilt ever made.
Quilts are really tessalations or mosaics, made up of many smaller pieces
Now, isn't this a "grand" quilt; I wish I could say that I made it but I did not.
It is never too late to learn to quilt or learn to play the piano or any other instrument. I am a good example of this because I learned to play the piano in my senior year of high school (when I could drive and afford to take lessons). As far as quilting is concerned, I am unconventional and self-taught. I do my quilting on a reliable Singer Sewing Machine. The reward for both is a lot of personal satisfaction, as well as impressing others.
This quilt is a tribute to my father called "My Daddy's Ties" My inspiration was to take actual neckties, because the silks and fabrics in them are so tactile and brilliant and create a starburst with the stitching extending from the center out.
