My Passions: Quilting and Music
home page
The AIDS quilt in Washington D. C., probably the largest quilt ever made.
Quilts are really tessalations or mosaics, made up of many smaller pieces
Now, isn't this a "grand" quilt; I wish I could say that I made it but I did not.
It is never too late to learn to quilt or learn to play the piano or any other instrument. I am a good example of this because I learned to play the piano in my senior year of high school (when I could drive and afford to take lessons). As far as quilting is concerned, I am unconventional and self-taught. I do my quilting on a reliable Singer Sewing Machine.
The reward for both is a lot of personal satisfaction, as well as impressing others.
This quilt is a tribute to my father called "My Daddy's Ties" My inspiration was to take actual neckties, because the silks and fabrics in them are so tactile and brilliant and create a starburst with the stitching extending from the center out.
