Chapter Three
Miguel? I didnt see you. Wheres Charity? She gently inquired. Charitys in the house. Ive decided to chill back here before I could face Mr. and Mrs. Bennett. Kay stood up and embedded her eyes into the blazing evening sky. Miguel saw how dainty she is looking. This deity girl captured his heart five years ago and he somehow regret for leaving her at the alter. But he couldnt help that Charity will always remain in his heart. He sighed slowly and finally spoken to her. Kay, how have you been? He wanted to get a conversation going after their five year hiatus. Im good. You? She exchanged briefly. Im good. He repeated her words somewhat.

Are you married? Have any kids? A curious Miguel queried. Kay gave him a blank stare and answered him. Yes, Im married and I have a daughtershes beautifulwhat about you? Kay interrogated uncomfortably.
Yes, Charity and I have a son. When did you get married? Did you have a public or private wedding? Miguel threw all those hard ball questions at her. Miguel, will you give me a chance to answer before you grill me to the ground? Kay tried not to sound so snappy. Ive got married a year laterafter our wedding. And my wedding was private. I didnt want Mom and Dad dealing with another wedding. Because Jessica, Noah, and Ethan got married almost back to back. So, I made it officially secluded. Miguel kept his eyes on her. Were they upset?

Her eyes grew wide as saucers. At first, but they got over it. She responded nonchalantly. Kay, you dont have to be so caviler. Im just Kay cut him off before he finished. Youre just curiousI knowMiguel, I think we should head back inside, we dont want our loved ones to worry. Kay started to walk away, instead Miguel stepped in her tracks and made her halt.

What is it, Miguel? She posed warily. Kay, do you ever think about those nights we had spent together? Do you ever think about us making love so passionately that we were consumed with pleasure and sinful guilt of obliging each other intimately? Kay took a minute to stare at him and heaved out a sigh. Whats the point of bringing this up? You know this is pointless. She remarked dryly. Kay, Im not trying to upset youbut there are times when those moments wed shared had crossed my mind. Miguel broke it to her easily.

I dont have to hear about this . . .

Kay, dont walk away from me . . . at some point in time we must discuss about our past.

Miguel, no, Im happily married and you are happily married. Why are you trying to destroy the one thing I have going for myself that is really good for me? She scrutinized him. Tell me one thing, do you think about me every time when he touch you intimately?? Kay froze and glared at him. How dare you bring this up to me? You have no right to impose on my personal life! How dare you?! She slapped him and rushed to Eric and stayed with him for the whole evening.

Kay, we will talk about this . . . whether you like it or not. Miguel walked back to Charity and held her hand gently. Two days later, Kay is still bothered about what Miguel had said to her. She knew it was true that shed contemplated about Miguel making love to her. Why did she deny it like that? Most of all, why did she defy him? What possessed her to snap at him the way that she did? She will get her answers sooner or later. If Miguel is so happy with Charity, why in the hell would he give me the third degree? What is it hes not telling me? Kay frowned in concentration. Kay? Are you all right? Eric cocked a brow at her. Yes, honey. Do you want anything to drink? Kay went to the refrigerator to fix Eric a glass of orange juice. Eric didnt want to mention anything to her; lately Kay hasnt been herself; and he chose to stay quiet.

Eric, when are you coming home? Kay asked out of the blue. I dont know, knowing with my hectic schedule sweetheart, it would be hard to distinguish. He stated while reading his newspaper. Oh, ok. She barely opened her mouth and therefore her voice was not coherent to Eric. Whenever you find outlet me know, OK? Kay gave him direct eye contact. Erics eyes glued to hers and smiled. See you later, sweetheart. Eric kissed his wife goodbye and Kay plopped on the couch after Eric had departed.

What will I do? She soughed and she groaned when she heard the doorbell ringing. ASHLEY! WOULD YOU GET THAT FOR ME?! She screamed at the top of her lungs. It occurred to her that she has given Ashley a day off. Coming! She grunted. Yes? She replied hastily. Nice to be welcomed, Kay. Simone retorted. Sorry, I thought you were someone else. She grumbled. Who would that be, Kay? Could it be Miguel? Simone speculated. Simone, Im so furious with him!

Simone knows that Kay doesnt talk like this. She can tell something is up. What did he do to you? Simone stared at her as Kay paced the floor back and forth she almost put a hole in her carpet. How dare he questioned my happiness?! She fumed. What did Miguel do to you, Kay? Or shall I say what did he say to you? Simone crossed her arms. Simone, he brought up the past about the time we have spent together. I didnt want to think about itthen he had enough nerve to ask me . . . Kay paused and walked towards the door. Charity? Kay responded dryly. What are you doing here? Kay looked confused. I actually came here to invite you to my sons birthday party. Do
you wanna come? Charity is hoping that shell take her offer.

II dont know, Charity. Ill ponder about it later. Kay brushed it off. No, Kay. Please say yes. It would mean a lot to me if you do. You havent seen your little cousinand I want him to meet you. Charity beamed as Simone mouthed to Kay Say yes. All right. What time? Kay had to get Charity off her back. Tomorrow at five. See you until then.
Bye Simone and Kay. Charity said as they returned their goodbye as well.

Kay shut the door and had this starry eyed look on her face. Oh, no. You have that look on your face. What are you planning to do, Kay? Simone felt it coming.

Im not doing anything, Simone.

You expect me to believe that? A skeptical Simone asked.

Yes, Simone. Im not going to do anything, as a matter-of-fact; Miguel will see how happy I amwith Eric. She grinned widely. I was afraid of that. Kay, I thought you wanted Miguel to be after you? Simone grimaced. Yea, that was before, until now. She smirked. What do you mean until now.? Simone doesnt like the sound of Kays voice, not one bit.

Youll see, Simone. Besides, tell me whats going on with you. I want to know everything that is going on with my best friend. She sat beside Simone. Simone beheld Kay suspiciously. Oh, well . . . Im a doctor now. Simone curved her lips slightly. Say what? A stunned Kay exclaimed. My best friend is a doctor?! Simone, get out of here! Im so happy for you! She gave Simone an encouraging embrace. Now, I can take my daughter to you any time. Kay hugged her again and Simone is really relieved that Kay is thrilled for her.

Kay, youre lucky. You dont have to lift a finger; you have a very rich husband who takes care of you. Simone had a hint of jealousy in her tone. Simone, dont think I dont do anything, I do have a job, you know. Kay folded her arms. What do you for a living? Simone investigated her. I work with Theresa in the fashion biz. She flashed a quirky smile. Thats good, Kay. You know what? I have to go. I have an engagement I have to attend to. Call you tomorrow? Simone speculated. Yea, you know you can call me! See you until then. Kay gave Simone a goodbye
hug before letting her out the door.

Kay was about to rest on her feet until she heard someone pounding on her door. Miguel? What are you doing here? How did you know where I live? Kays expression changed drastically. May I come in? I believe we have a lot to discuss . . . Miguel waited for Kay to let him in. She invited him in and sat beside him. Okay Miguel, whats this about? She shook her head imperturbably. Please, hear me out before you dismiss me. I believe this is something you dont want to miss onon what I have to say . . .
