My Favourite Guitarists Melody Maniacs
Joe Satriani was the first guitarist that got me introduced into Instrumental Rock. He is a rock/blues guitarist who has technical yet emotional playing and knows every advanced technique.

He has taught guitar to players like Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett (Metallica).

The first song I heard of Joe's was "Surfing with the Alien". I thought it was soo groovy I played it for a whole year in between exercises.
Steve Vai is a great guitarist of great technicality. In terms of melody, speed and technique, he has pushed the boundaries of whats possible on guitar.

His bizarre playing included playing with his tongue, playing blindfolded and playing with his foot!

The first song I heard of Steve's was "For the love of God" which has always been a favourite of mine and has taught me of how the guitar can peek into the human spirit.

Jason Becker used to be hailed as one of the best rock guitarists in the world. He was an excellent player of exotic scale runs, unique whammy bar phrasing and his trade mark of playing guitar with one hand and yo-yoing with the other hand.

But at just 20 years old, he was diagnoised with ALS, a paralyzing disease which made him lose all of his movement (except his eyes) and speech by the time he was 24.

After 5 years with the help of a computer, Jason hired musicians to play his music and finished a CD and music called "Perspectives"

The first song I heard of Jason was "Rain" from the album "Perspectives" where every song is amazingly beautiful!
