Well, It's been a super busy year with the Passat this year (2002). I joined a local Volkswagen club in Calgary, ClubVeeDub. Lots of shows and events to attend. My Passat has also had some major upgrades this year:)))
Joining ClubVeeDub was one of the best things I could have done! Amongst numerous great pros, I found I had inherited a 10% discount at Concept 1, our local VW parts and performance shop. First thing I addressed on my Passat was the front end. The Reiger spoilerlippe did not hold up on brutal Calgary. After several attempts to repair a chunk that tore off, I gave up and decided to take off the entire spoiler. Upon removing it I also discovered my bumper had sustained some damage as well. The "ribs" that hold it together were ALL broken! I tryed to find a Passat bumper in the junkyards, but that was futile! Being a VW, going to the stealership was out of the question. That's when I turned to Concept 1 (C1).

Having this website has enabled me to find all types of parts for B3's. I really wanted the Dietrich front bumper. C1 agreed to order one for me at a cost of $650 CAD. In the mean time , they were reminded of a Mattig RS bumper they had ordered way back when and no one had bought. My man Curtis at C1 went and dug it up. It was a bit rough, but it was really sweet looking and they sold it to me for $450. I also picked up some MK3 clear lights for the new bumper and some steel mesh. I decided to install the bumper myself! What the hell was I thinking???

It actually went ok. Patience is EVERYTHING!! These aftermarket parts are NOT made to fit perfectly without any mods. This bumper was no exception. With a little help from my welder neighbor, I got it done in a day.
