| This ground blind is actually used as an observation post for pre season scouting. All though I do like to hunt from it during the full period of the rut. There are so many trails that congest to this area that your attention span must be at its best. The fact that it is a natural blind gives it an edge for the location. Beds are only forty to sixty yards north so movement and sound had better be controlled perfectly. Getting to the blind can only happen during the cover of darkness with a southerly blowing wind. Evening hunts from this blind are good but tricky unless you stay all day and wait them out. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| During the winter months the woodlot is pretty easy to look through. As you can tell by the saplings and new growth. Any season that has leaves on the trees cuts the visibility way down. Stalking is slow moving, looking more then walking has to be the plan of attack. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The next four pictures are of the ground blind from the outside. The bottom two are from trails looking back. I Practice my shooting while sitting on a cut log in the blind for the distances. I do that for every blind I have. I like to use a cut log for a stool because, it doesn`t make noise while you move around for a shot. Plus it doesn`t advertise that you hunt from the blind and welcome strangers as easily. Just make sure the log is wide enough in diameter to be comfortable. Maybe bring a heat seat pad. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Six views from inside. First two are south east and the last two are strait west. My back is against the tree and the camo matches perfectly. Suddenly movement, HOLY CRAP !! This is a nice one. Heart is starting to pump hard and loud. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Clip the release, slowly raise the bow, take a slow deep breath, push out the bow and pull to your anchor point, gauge the distance, slowly let out the breath, hold the pin on the vitals, take another slow inhale, lay your finger over the trigger, squeeze your shoulder blades together, THUMP... hold the bow steady while watching the arrow, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| TWACK� let out the breath, smile and take a drink of water, look for the arrow with your binoculars, start packing your equipment, go to the arrow, tie a marker to a branch, start tracking, HA.. if you need to, drag it to the river, gut it out, rince the carcass, tag it, start again tomorrow. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| These two pictures are of the trail that is closest to the blind. The left picture shows how close I am. The fork is the joining of two trails that come from the river water holes. This is an eighteen yard shot at the closest point. I have to wait for a quarter away shot which puts the distance at twenty two yards. The whole deer is in my aperture at that distance.
