Jenksville, New York
On the site where Laban Jenks established his trading post (in current Speedsville, NY) this gazebo was built to commemorate the founder of the hamlet. Laban sold the farm in Jenksville and purchased this land just north of his original settlement.

The gazebo was erected in 1898. In the fall of 1998 (a few months after this photograph was taken) a major windstorm went through Speedsville and uprooted trees. One of the large trees around the gazebo came down on top of it, destroying it.

The park in Speedsville was relandscaped and the Gazebo was rebuilt in the summer of 2000. Click to view the new park signs and the rebuilt gazebo.
