Deep in the forest of Nonsuch, Lives a community of Gnomes, they all have their roles to play, and each takes great pride in what they do, and for the young Gnomes to aspire to becoming a Master craftsman is a celebration in itself, to be held in high esteem throughout the land, is every young Gnomes dream. Even the Elves, whose delicate crafts and liquid grace, admire the seemingly rough, gruff ways of the Gnomes and the craftsmanship of the Gnomes work. Like the Elves, once you have gained the trust, not an easy thing to do, and friendship of a Gnome, then you are honoured to have a very trustworthy and loyal friend for life.....

Digger
Although small in stature, Gnomes are renowned for their strength, take young Digger,( also known as Dimpleseed ) for example, he has worked alongside his father digging deep into the mountains, for the precious metal that his father will use in the forge, making tools and weapons for the rest of the Gnome community, his fathers work and skill is renowned through-out the land, for he is a Master craftsman, and Dimpleseed, at the very young age of 100yrs, is keen to follow in his fathers footsteps. But Dimpleseed also likes to tend to his garden, which is his pride and joy, and quite the envy of all his friends......

TWINS
Gordon and Jack, these are the two practical jokers of the Clan, and are never out of bother, if there is a scrap to be had, then you can be sure that they will be close by, if not actually taking part. They have trained their pet squirrels to gather the nuts and mushrooms and other things, as this is one of their duties. They are also supposed to keep the gardens in trim, but these two rascals would rather be off, playing in the woods and having a good time. I remember the time that they stowed away on Captain Allatsea's ship, they vowed never to try that again, as Captain Allatsea made them work as deckhands for the rest of the voyage, all that scrubbing and polishing was not their idea of a high sea adventure. Saying this, two kinder and more helpful youngsters would be hard to find.

Moonman
Simon Seefar, ah, now we have a character, Simon is the wise and mystical one, the father figure of the Clan. Some say that he communes with the faerie folk. His talents are many and he is often seen walking in the moonlight with mysterious little snowbirds flying around him. He is often called on, not only for his wisdom, but also for his healing powers, he is a gnome of many talents. It is because of this that he is revered and very respected, not only by his Clan but by all the other Clans as well, and is a Leader in the Grand Council. His words, although few, are always true, and what he foretells, always happens..

Music Man
Timmie Quaver is one of our personal favourites, if one can have a favourite amongst so many nice Folk. The little Music Man, with his concertina is always happy and cheerful, he is a natural merrymaker. When harvest time comes around the Music Mans services come to the fore, he is a delight to see and hear, most times he sits at the Great Oak Tree, midway between the mines and the fields, so that his music can be heard by Dimpleseed ( Digger ) and his crews and the others tending the fields and gardens. He is loved by all..
}
Mountain Man
Nifty Muchaloft, this little chap loves to climb to the highest peaks, where he has the ( as he puts it )best view of the World. But his main tasks are to keep a lookout for enemies and to sound the alarm. He also has the best views and opportunities for locating new crops and locating new mines, that run deep in the mountains. He gives the impression of being gruff and unapproachable, but as you get to know him, his warm personality comes shining through. A very gentle Gnome..

Sailor
Captain Allatsea, A rover to the manner born, he is the Gnome that cannot be tied down on land. He appears as friendly as all the other Gnomes, but at sea he will be obeyed. On his ship the "Sally Forth", he is a strict master, everything must be ship shape, gleaming, and woe betide the member of crew that is caught slacking. He has travelled all the sea's of Gnomeland, but his favourite port of call is Maltish, a fairly tropical island, where he has many friends, and many a sea shanty is sung, swigged down with his favourite tipple when he is in Port. He is a resplendent Gnome in his blue jacket and medals and a really honourable chap..

Under Escort
Rough "n" Tough, and Timothy, who had been rather a naughty Gnome, and had to be escorted from the premises of "Jates ", the local alehouse, where he had become rather boisterous, as most Gnomes find out sooner or later, that strong ale does not always go down well, and can lead to many a boisterous fracas. Rough "n" Tough are well used to this, and are very good at keeping the peace. As members of the Gnomeland Armed Forces, they also deter the enemies of the Clan. Although they appear ferocious, they are very gentle and well mannered, seeing these two soldiers off duty, they would remind you of a pair of kids out for a bit of fun, mind you, young Timothy might not agree, when he sobers up..

Phaba
Phaba is a Troll, a fierce creature, warlike in nature, and he hates Gnomes, in all honesty, there are not many that would even think of associating with these rather gruesome smelly creatures. Rough and Tough take this all in their stride and will take no nonsense from anybody, but the gentler folk are only to happy to avoid these foul creatures. Trolls and Ogres tend to inhabit dark caves, but they do have a fear of the Faerie folk, one in particular is Lady Kadleen, also known as " The Princess of the Glen", if things seem to be getting out of hand with the Trolls and Ogres, then she only has to let her presence be known and that is enough to send them heading back for the hills and their caverns, to fight amongst themselves, leaving the wee folk in peace..

THE LAMPLIGHTER
This little fellow goes by the name of the "Leerie", he goes around the village lighting the lamps. The young Gnomes follow him around singing and dancing, and many is the time that he can be seen joining in with the youngsters, by nature he is very happy go lucky. His responsibility is great, not only does he light the lamps in the streets, to help deter the Trolls and Ogres, but in the day he is deep in the mines helping Digger Dimpleseed and his crew by lighting the way for the Gnomes deep into the heart of the mountain in search for valuable minerals and gems, so for a very happy go lucky Gnome he is very brave indeed to venture so far down into the mountain..

Rinn Rainbow ( The Artist)
Rinn Rainbow is without a doubt the most colourful of the Clan, you often get the feeling that if you linger too long that a picture of you will appear in the Great Hall, immortalised forever. A good friend to all, especially those with a creative mind, his brush strokes creating the most delightful and colourful paintings imaginable. Everyone has heard of " The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow ", Rinn is without a doubt the " colourist " of the rainbow as he paints his colourful hues across Gnomeland..

The Vale
The Vale is a strange place, surrounded by deep forests, it is like an Island, that is divided in two by a ridge of foothills. On one side nestles Gnomeland, and on the other Faerie Glen. To the North end of the Vale there is a high, and dark towering mountain, which often casts it's dark and gloomy shadow over the valley, a mysterious and forbidding place.

Roary
Bronze Dragons are extremely rare, in fact Roary may well be the last of his kind. He searches long and far in his quest for another Great Bronze Winged Dragon. Roary is one of the few to leave the Dale, but always returns to his Lair, he will make a good and trusted friend too, be it another Dragon or the Wee Folk....

Anjos
Anjos was a "strange" Gnome, he could often be found sitting on some rock or grassy knoll, deep in thought, his mind a whirlpool of " whys" and "how's", like how do birds fly or what must it be like to soar with the wind and to ride the currents, wheeling and diving to feel the exhilarating rush of wind and warmth.
Today he was to be seen with Grin Greenhat, heads close together, trying to get answers to his many thoughts," did Grin know what it was like to ride a dragon", and questions all in a similar vein. Grin had done and seen many things in his lifetime, but this joy had yet to happen for him and was unable to give Anjos a suitable answer.
It was on a day when Grin and Anjos had ventured out of Gnomeland, to a meadow that led to the mountain range that they saw a wondrous sight. Two flying creatures, the sun glistening off scales of many hues, one was recognised as Roary, but who was the second dazzling creature ? Roary landed close by, followed by a Great Red, who slowly approached Grin and Anjos.
Anjos approached the Great Red, and with trembling hands reached out to touch the magnificent beast, suddenly a kind of shock coursed through his mind and body. A deep resonant voice filled his mind, " My name is Esproon, young Anjos Dragonrider and I am your Dragon, our minds will bond and we will be as one. We will feel what the other feels, be it joy or sorrow, Anjos stood transfixed, he knew in that moment that a lifebond had been created. This is how Anjos became the first ever Dragon Rider..

First Flight
The time had come for the maiden flight for Anjos and his Dragon Nesproon. The harness was rigged and the saddle adjusted, gingerly Anjos climbed aboard and settled himself in, grasping tightly on the reins, and wondering what he was letting himself in for.
Nesproon lumbered along the stretch of clearing, then with beating wings he soared into the air as graceful as can be. Anjos slowly opened his eyes, and could not believe that the ground was so far below. Slowly he started to relax, easing his grip on the reins, Nesproon " spoke" to him in his mind. laughing at Anjos's unease " all is well Anjos, relax and enjoy the first of many flights together".
Anjos was really enjoying the rush of air that sped past them as Nesproon continued his flight, the amazing sights below mountain ranges, forests and fields whooshed by in a kaleidoscope of colour. They were heading back to Gnomeland when disaster struck......
Nesproon had swept close to the ground, when Anjos leaned too far over and toppled off, falling and landing in all places the " mucky mire " as it was known, a rather boggy piece of land that dotted Gnomeland. Luckily these were never deep but the smell was something else again.
Nesproon landed nearby, concerned for his new DragonRider, when he saw Anjos, covered in muck and weeds it took all his efforts not to " laugh" but a toothy grin escaped anyway. Anjos scrambled out none the worse for wear but looking in a very sorry state all the same, he scrambled to some nearby bushes and started frantically pulling off leaves, trying his utmost to clean himself as much as possible before their return to Gnomeland.
They arrived to a tumultuous welcome, which soon turned to howls of laughter when they saw the sorry state of Anjos, but all in all they had to agree that the first ever DragonRider flight had been a great success for Anjos and Nesproon, one that would be remembered for a long time to come ........

Soth-Glom ( Gliafid Leader )
Leader of all the Gliafid Clans, highly revered mainly due to fear of his awesome powers, an evil character whose sole dream was the destruction of Gnomeland. He had his minions at hand, trembling, awaiting his outburst at their failure at Mystic Isle and their failure to destroy the Wise Old Tree due to the intervention of the Fishsim children.
He raged and stormed, knowing that the powers of the Wise Old Tree needed to be ended, otherwise all his plotting and planning would come to naught. The camp fires burned high and hot, which was in keeping with the mood of the Gliafids, whose hatred of Gnomeland knew no bounds, plots and plans resounded around the many fires, where to strike next, but deep down they knew that the magic of the Wise Old Tree and all good magic had to be ended before they could rule the lands.
There was also the Prophecy that they must stop from reaching fulfilment, that a Gelflin child would rule, keeping Gnomeland forever safe......
