We
serve a God for whom nothing is impossible!!
I guess in late May, my mom called me into her room to show me an
article she had found in a magazine for Baptist pastors. It was
inviting people to join in a mission trip to Hong Kong.
Immediately, I was excited!
But, trips like this are not without expense, and I had no
way to pay for the trip. Yet, after contacting the man in charge
and talking with his secretary, I felt even more excited about the
trip.
During this time I was very uncertain about what to do.
"Is this me? Is this God? "
"Can God really provide?"
Well, the secretary called me on a Thursday and said basically, "We
need to know because we are buying plane tickets next Friday, and we
need your money."
I took a step of faith.
I committed to the coordinator
that I would go. But, I told her I would let her know on
Monday what needed to happen because I didn't even have twenty dollars
to put towards a 2,695 dollar trip.
I prayed.
I prayed with my mom and dad.
Then I emailed a few of my friends and family asking them to pray with
me as well. I also asked some if they would help me to go.
On one level, I knew that my God was able to provide every penny I
needed to go.
On another level, I wasn't so sure He would be able to do in one weekend
or that He would want to do it for me.
This was one of the roughest weekends I'd ever had in my life. I
told one of my friends when we work out and stretch muscles, it hurts
even though we are growing stronger. I told her my spiritual
muscles were really hurting!
God is trustworthy.
By Monday, I had almost all the money I needed to go to Hong Kong promised
to me. Friends and family gave everything from five dollars to
five hundred dollars. I believe this was an exciting part of the
trip--when I first committed to going, I wasn't one hundred percent sure He could do
it (I had some serious doubts)!
We truly serve a God for whom nothing
is impossible!!
When God leads, He will provide.
