About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is known as the Pearl of the Orient.
The tourism board calls Hong Kong the City of Life

But does the actual city live up to her names?

I would say yes.

"What do you think about Hong Kong?"
I heard this question over and over while I was there and since I have returned.

"People.  So many people.
       And the
buildings, they are all so tall!"
       has often been my reply.

I was truly overwhelmed by the number of people in Hong Kong.  In fact, Mong Kok, an area in Hong Kong, is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most densely populated area in the world!

All over the city, high rises stretch up to the sky--20, 30, 40 stories high.  Many of the apartments are only about 500 square feet.  Each family has an average of 5 people.  So let's see--that is 100 square feet per person.  No wonder everyone is out on the streets trying to get some space.

One person told me that each window represented one family.  When you look at the photos here remember that.
