The Convoy
Four men are impersonating mounties, Berton, Richards, Jones & Scott ( a deserter from the
mounties), they intend to take possession of a gatlin gun that the U.S.Calvary is turning over to
the mounted police. Clive arrives to escort them into town, he becomes suspicious, and is shot by
Berton.
Meanwhile, the children are playing in the street and laughing at marshal Craddock who is
holding a skane of yarn for Marie while she rolls it into a ball.
The four "mounties" arrive in town, Jack meets them
and is told by Scott that Bennett had to go to an indian
reservation, where there was some trouble.
"Somethin' just don't sit right."
Couteau finds Corporal Bennett. He tells Couteau to warn Jack.
Back at the saloon:
Richards' insists Marie has a drink with him.
Jack comes to her rescue, Richards takes a swing at him. The marshal arrests Richards.
He tells the marshal that "The corporal was shot by a mountie."
Marshal Craddock watches as  Scott takes possession of the gun.
He asks if the transfer can "wait fer a bit, 'til Bennett
gets back?" He is told that the papers are in order . Jack is very suspicious.
The mounties leave town with the gun carriage, Couteau arrives soon after.
Scott insists that his man be released from jail.
Craddock tells him, "You can insist all ya want red belly, he ain't gettin' out 'til later today."
