| TRAVEL TIPS: Assam is connected by all major Airways and Railways. It has direct and daily flights from New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai to Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Borjhar, Guwahati. It has direct and daily trains from Delhi to Guwahati, such as : Rajdhani Express, North-East Express, Brahmaputra Mail, Avadh Assam. From Kolkata (Howrah) to Guwahati: Saraighat Express, Kamrup Express, Kanchajengha Express. From Bangalore to Guwahati: Bangalore Mail. From Chennai to Guwahati : Chennai Express or from Trivandrum it has Trivandrum Express. Assam has a very good road service. Assam State Transport Co-operation(A.S.T.C) has varieties good buses from Guwahati.From 5 am in the morning to 10 pm night. The are also private bus services both Luxurious (AC/non A/C)and Non- luxurious buses plying from every corner of Assam to Guwahati and vice-versa. Bus services are also available to other North-Eastern states. Do gather the necessary documents needed to visit other North-Eastern states from the kiosks at Assam State Transport Co-operation. Taxi services(A/C;non A/C) are available 24hrs from Guwahati to all over Assam as well as other states like Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh. |

| OTHER USEFUL TIPS: Best time to visit Assam is in between September to May. If you are planning to visit other North-Eastern states then do get the entry passes from Arunachal Bhavan, Manipur Bhavan, Nagaland Bhavan, Mizoram Bhavan, Tripura Bhavan in any metro cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai. Don't forget your anti mosquito cream. Keep some mosquito repelents handy. No need of Sunscreens, your googles would be all. Its better if you take a map with you. Assam and other North-Eastern parts are very peaceful place. So please don't use any slangs, swears or abuse against the local people like the cab drivers or the potterers. If any problem persistes contact the nearest Police Station/ Thana. There are many Tourist Info. Centres located in the Railway stations, Bus stands and Airports. Ask them either for any problem regarding staying or necessities. Hotels are quite cheap in Guwahati and other places compared to rest of India. Try some cheap hotels other then the expensive ones as both provides the same services. Some good hotels are : Hotel Mahalaxmi, Hotel Nandan, Hotel Ambassador, Hotel Indira. Do keep some warm clothes and a little umbrella with you. |
