Applications

The applications of APIS can be divided into the following three main groups.

1.           Commercial applications such as computer network login, electronic data security, e-commerce, Internet access, ATM, credit card, physical access control, cellular phone, medical records management, and distance learning & e-signature.

2.           Government applications such as national ID card, correctional facility, driver’s license, social security, welfare disbursement, border control, and passport control.

3.           Forensic applications such as corpse identification, criminal investigation, terrorist identification, parenthood determination, and missing children.

4.           What we intend to do with our software is to implement an automated   attendance system in our college in which the students instead of responding to roll calls will have to just put their fingerprint on the scanner, the scanned image will then be processed by our software in order to identify the person and the attendance database of the student be marked automatically for that period.
