Fond du Lac Snowflyers
December 2005 NEWSLETTER
The December 7, 2005, Fond du Lac Snowflyers Christmas Party was held @ Schmitty�s Oar House. We had for cash bar and club furnished hors d�oeuvres from 6-7 PM, dinner @ 7PM with a blessing and prayer for snow by Party Chairman Walt Parsons. Then Santa (Walt) and his Elves (Emily & Angel Coyne and Dylan Parsons) presented gifts to all members & guests present, with those that have been very good (also lucky) receiving 2 gifts. 33 members & guests attended including 3 children attended. Thanks to Fred�s Fastrac, (Polaris Dealer, Peebles) Schmitty�s Oar House, Buggy Bath (car wash), S&S Motorsports (Artic Cat Dealer, Mercer, WI), Shooter�s Sports Bar, and the club for furnishing gifts; Dottie & Walt Parsons for making the desert (2 cakes, �Merry Christmas� & �THINK SNOW� themes and Assistant Chairpersons: Dottie Parsons & Bev Immel. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening. MERRY CHRISTMAS & Pray for Snow
Regular Meeting functions where not conducted; therefore no treasures report was given & President Darrin Parsons was able to enjoy the evening with no official duties.
Fond du Lac County Snowmobile Assn. Summary of November Meeting
1. FDLCSA Dinner Banquet was held with 106 people attending (12 Fondy Snowflyers attended) The guest speaker was Donna White (Past AWSC President & Member of the Governor�s Snowmobile Recreation Council) who provided us with valuable & informative information. The Raffle included over 150 prizes with the FDLSCA, most county clubs & all of the snowmobile dealers in Fond du Lac County donating prizes.
2. AWSC Report
a. Snowmobile Sound Enforcement State legislature Bill# AB 566 should be passed soon and enforcement should begin this season. The latest information is that the test will be a stationary test with enforcement @ 88 decibels @ 4,000 rpm @ 4 ft distance. The bill does not ban after market pipes but they must pass the test. There are some stock sleds manufactured in the late 1990s that do not pass the test, ie: Artic Cat ZRT�s.
b. Snowmobile Ambassador Program The AWSC is working on establishing a program similar to what we know of as a Snow Patrol to help improve safety and awareness of responsible snowmobiling.
Committee Reports: (Not announced at Christmas Party)
1. Trail Our approx. 11 miles of trail are marked and with more snow could be opened. Thanks to the following members who participated in marking & maintaining the trails in the last month: Tom Beltz (Trail Chairman) (7.5 hr + contacting landowners) & Walt Parsons (Assist. Trail Chairman) (27.5 hr), Dave Kaiser (23.5 hr), George Immel (7 hr), Ed Wolf (6.5 hr), Ryan Burnham (3.5 hr), Dan Corcoran (3.5 hr), Matt Zacherl (3.5 hr), Matt Coyne (3 hr), Darrin Parsons (3 hr), Dyaln Parsons (3 hr) and Dottie Parsons (2 hr). Three members also used their truck for marking & maintaining: Walt Parsons (20 hr), Tom Beltz (7.5 hr + contacting landowners) and Darrin Parsons (3 hr). So far we will be collecting $1,158 reimbursement for labor, equipment & supplies.
2. Snowmobile Safety Class We are in the process of holding our snowmobile safety class on December 1, 8 & 15 (Thursdays) @ the Town of Fond du Lac Town. We have 21 students. |
