Hi,
I was born in 1977(2nd October) at Howrah. My father Sri Prasanta Kumar
Kar is a Divisional Engineer in The National Highways Deptt. of Govt of
West Bengal and my mother Smt Gayatri Kar is a successful homemaker. I
have a younger brother Puskar
Prasun Kar. He is a Civil Engineering graduate from Bengal
Engineering college and MS in Transportation Engineering from Wayne
State University, Detroit. Currently he is an engineer working for
Maryland Highway Authority.
As
far I can remember in the year 1984, I was admitted to Shyampur
Prathamik Abaitanik Vidyalaya for the first time. Shyampur was a remote
village in the Howrah district and my father was posted there at that
time. In the year 1986 my father was transferred to Nowpala and we moved
to that place. which was also in the same district. There I was admitted
to Tenpur Nabasan Anantaram Uchcha Vidyalaya. Because of my father's
transferable job and so much movement, my parents decided to admit me in
some residential school.
In the year 1987, I was admitted to RKM
Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, a school in located in the outskirts of
Kolkata. It was an Ashrama and more than a school. I spent a long time
(nine years) there and possibly it was the best period of my life. My
school not only gave me a good company of many friends but also taught
me the basic principles of life.
After passing the Madhyamik Examination I moved to the RKM
College, Narendrapur, which was also in the same campus. As I passed
the Higher Secondary Examination, my days in the Narendrapur was then
over and I joined Jadavpur University
in 1996.
I passed both Medical(96) and Engineering(101) JEE. In school I had an
ambition to become a doctor. But fortunately or unfortunately I joined
the Computer Science & Engineering Department in JU.
In the CSE department I had a new set of friends. All of them with great
academic background and merit. Gradually I started to like the
department and the faculty. Few of the teachers were really caring and I
had guidance and affection from them.
I completed my graduation and joined HCL
Technologies at their Noida office as a Member Technical Staff in
the Software Division. I worked there till August, 2001. Then I decided
to go for higher studies in USA and joined The
University of Tulsa for MS Program in CS. I also worked as a
Research Assistant of Dr.
Sandip Sen in his research group DAI-Hard.
I graduated my MS in August, 2003. I have few reseach publications,
which you can find in the reseach section. After MS graduation, I worked for Kaiser Permanente. Currently I am working in Software Products R&D Engineering
division of Sun Microsystems. |
