Plus: A whole lot more!
The ATF ToolKit has an easy to use Windows interface which operates in Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows '95. The ToolKit will work with all ATF versions (including the 1.14 patch). Multiple project folders allow you to maintain groups of custom changes - perfect for advanced mission creation. You won't believe what you will have the power to do. Custom missions will never be the same!
Please see the Help file for registration details.
2. PREREQUISITES
The ToolKit runs in Windows/Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or Windows '95. It was developed using Microsoft Visual Basic V3.0 within Windows '95, and is best used with an 800 x 600 screen resolution configured to
display 256 or greater colors. Other display configurations may result in poor graphics rendering or screens that are difficult to read. It is strongly suggested that you not use the ToolKit in 640x480 mode or with Large Fonts selected.
Jane's ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighters) CD is required to use the ToolKit. The utility is designed to work on all known versions of ATF up to (and including) the NATO add-on. Some music files are not available if you used the MIDI installation of ATF. If you haven't tried Digital sound yet, I really recommend it. It's pretty kewl!
Hard disk space requirements vary, but you will need at least 15 MB
free for the performing the installation (this drops to about 7 MB total
used by the ToolKit after you erase the installation files from the temporary directory) and between 10 MB and 40 MB additional depending on how many projects and custom items you develop over time.
3. INSTALLATION
Just unzip the ATFTK.ZIP file (into a temp directory is best, since
the installation files are copied and you will probably want to delete
them after installation). From Program Manager (not File Manager)
click File..Run (or click on the Start button in Windows '95). Run the
TKSETUP.EXE program.
NOTE: Make sure you don't have any other programs running
when you perform the install. In some cases where Visual Basic
programs are running, the Setup program can fail. It's also a
good idea to temporarily disable any active screen savers you
might have until after the installation is complete.
During installation, you will be prompted for the Source Directory.
This will default automatically to the directory where you ran the
TKSETUP.EXE program from, and changes should not be necessary. Just press continue to move on.
The ToolKit setup program will need to know where the ATF program has been installed. Type in the full path name of this location when prompted (default = C:\JANES\ATF).
The ToolKit setup program will also need to know where you want to install the ToolKit files. By default they get installed in a \TOOLKIT directory in your ATF install directory path. But you can change this to install the ToolKit to another directory or drive if desired. Type in the
fuill pathname of this location when you are prompted (default = C:\JANES\ATF\TOOLKIT).
You will be given the choice to have a ToolKit group added to Windows
(recommended). After the installation is complete, the ToolKit is
ready to run.
4. CAVEATS
Included in the install files are the following system files which get put into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (or wherever you have Windows nstalled) directory:
VBRUN300.DLL
CMDIALOG.VBX
COMMDLG.DLL
SETUPKIT.DLL
VER.DLL
DFINFO2.VBX
SS3D.VBX
SS3D2.VBX
SS3D3.VBX
GRID.VBX
PKWDCL.DLL
While there should not be any problems, Visual Basic developers may
want to backup the listed files if they already exist on your system and restore them after the install. In any case, the install program should not overwrite any more recent versions of these system files.
