MY RECENT WORK HISTORY
[SPACE WORLD, INC]
Last summer in Fukuoka (my 1st hometown), Japan, I worked for Space World (a theme park like Disney World) as a front desk receptionist at the park's hotel. My job was to greet guests and to check them in to their reserved rooms. It was done mostly in Japanese. There were some English speaking guests too, but not often. I studied a little bit Korean while working, because many of our guests were from South Korea. [Summer/2000]
[KITAKYUSHU CITY INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT]
Last summer in Fukuoka (my 1st hometown), Japan, I also worked for my city's international department as an English-Japanese translator. Although it was only for three days, I helped dancers from the U.S., Africa, and Europe for a Space World event. It was a great opprtunity to make the best use of my language skills. [Summer/2000]
[OFF BROADWAY -Fukuoka's #1 Hometown Bar-]
This summer in Fukuoka (my 1st hometown), Japan, I worked as a bartender/DJ at this dance club bar. A half of our customers were Americans and the other half were Japanese. I served Japanese cocktails as well as American ones. I often made my special shots "B-52" and "Kamikaze" and my special drinks "Woo-Woo" and "Pina Colada" for my customers. I personally liked making myself some "Jack and Coke" and "Cassis Orange" while working. [Summer/2001]
[CONGRES, FUKUOKA and FINA]
This summer in Fukuoka (my 1st hometown), Japan, I also worked as a translator at doping control station in Fina's World Swimming Tournament. It was a tough job, for one reason, my time schedule was too tight working as a bartender at night at the same time. For another reason, I had to study professional medical vocabulary in order to succeed the job. [Summer/2001]
[TUTOR]
TUTORING
I have been tutoring three elementary school students the Japanese language and culture. Their parents are very supportive and understanding. Students are all very active and cute learners. I tutor them individually according to their levels of learning. Please see more information about this on my Tutor Page on Teaching Experiences. [February/1998-Now]
[FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST]
DAVIS HALL, WMU
I currently work as a front desk receptionist in Davis Hall, one of the dorms on campus. It is always nice to see and to help many residents living in the dorm. This is my 5th year living in dorm, so it is a very comfortable job for me. [September/2001-December/2001]
