IV.
Cabbage soup again. I wanted so badly to go and see Jay, to find out if they really were going to kick him out, but I had to fix dinner. Some part inside of me wished that my father would marry again so that I could go back to working in the fields. But I understood that the memories were still something he treasured.

I think that we should burn the woman, and then cut the hands off of her son. Bobbys mother said loudly outside. I ran to the window and peered out. She was talking to Lord Ryan. Lord Ryan looked like he hadnt quite slept off the previous nights revels. He was leaning heavily on the well. Paige, I can see you eavesdropping! she shrieked. A smile crossed Lord Ryans face and he walked over to the window. Shit. I couldnt run away now.

Paige. Werent you the one who pulled Jay away from the celebration last night? he asked, pulling on a loose thread. Bobbys mother said that Amir was an accomplished seamstress, something that she equated with being a ghost. His eyes focused on the thread as he bounced it up and down. I sighed.

Yes, mlord, I was. I said quietly. He smiled condescendingly. Did he just wink at me?

I think it would be best if you made some show of being repentant for your actions. Father Thomas is probably quite willing to listen to you confess your exploits. Unfortunately, I dont know how much longer Jay is going to be able to live here. He nodded his head at Bobbys mother. I personally like that family, but when the whole village is against them, he shrugged, what can I do?

I can see your problem, mlord. But I am afraid that I cannot do as you request. I have to fix dinner for my father.

Bobbys mother, who had been silently eavesdropping the entire time, instantly ran over. I can handle that! You really have to visit Father Thomas, especially after what that demon did to you. she said, touching my forehead gently, then touching her cross. Shit.

Father Thomas was a man who had lead a life of debauchery and kinky sex before he took up the cloth. Some of the girls in the village had stories of how he would closely examine them about their sexual fantasies and then offer to save them...for a fee. Bobbys mother would inevitably find out, and the girls had to go back and confess again.

I pushed back the cloth that covered his doorway, hoping that he wasnt home. Paige! What brings you here! he yelled, hugging me with his sweaty arms. Wanted so badly to push him away. But that might result in more punishment than I wanted to handle.

Lord Ryan sent me here. Apparently my actions last night were not up to the standards of the church. I said. He smiled.

You mean rescuing the hell-spawn? I would have done it myself, but being a priest... he patted his habit and I watched as the dust spun around in the dark little cesspit he called a house. Was that all you did?

Like I was going to tell him about what had happened in the woods. Yes father.

Bobbys mother said that the hell-spawn touched your forehead. I think a little holy water will be enough to counteract the poison. he said, going to the bucket in the back of his house. I failed to see the difference between holy water and the kind that we fetched from the stream. If I didnt do it he would think that I needed to suffer the same fate as Jay. Then my father would have lost all that induced him to live.

Cold water touched my skin, he rubbed it in roughly. I felt nothing that made this water any different. There you go. But you had better stay away from that house. I dont think theyre going to be living here that much longer.

Right afterwards I ran to their house. Jay was working in their garden, transplanting vegetables. Jay! Theyre going to throw you out of the village! I said. He didnt give any sign of having heard me. I walked closer and tapped him on the shoulder. Jay?

He grabbed my collar and kissed me, I moaned and leaned into it. All concerns washed away into the ocean of my desire. My hands dove into his tunic, surrounding his nipples. He hissed as they hardened, pushed me down on my back in the garden. Let him run his hands all over me, thought was so slow when my cock became hard. Then he pulled back, acting as if he had heard something.

His eyes slashed mine and I bled into nothing. What? he whispered.

You really heard me, right? You werent just faking it, were you? I asked.

Tongue against my lips again, then he moved away. I have to fake it everyday. If everyone thinks that I am stupid, then theyre less likely to kill me. His fingers crept down to my groin.

Theyre going to run you out of the village, but Bobbys mother is suggesting burning you at the stake or something! I shrieked. It was so hard to concentrate when he was touching me.

If Im a demon, wouldnt I just stand there and laugh at them?

Ah... Breathed heavily until I could concentrate again. I know youre not a demon, you have to leave!

He ground his cock against mine, smiling quietly. Ill leave when they tell me to. I dont think you could live without me. Before I knew it he was kneeling and working in the garden again. I just laid on my back and looked up at the clouds. Bobbys mother wouldnt appreciate what I could show her when I got back.

When can we...? He laughed a bit, it was so beautiful, the last thing I ever expected from him.

Meet again? Why not tonight? Im usually in the forest when my mother receives her visitors. he suggested. Hazel oozed sex. Unless youre not able to leave.

Thought about my father. I think Ill be able to. My father usually passes out before night falls.

He sucked on his finger slowly. Fine. Remembered last night, how my cock had gone in and out of those pouted rose petals.

Bobbys mother spooned out more of the cabbage concoction than I ever thought I would be able to eat. How was Father Thomas? she asked. I sighed and played around with the globs of leeks and onions.

He was fine. He blessed me and said that I was ok. She slammed her spoon down on the table. How had she wormed her way into a free meal? She certainly wasnt hurting for money. After her husband died, everyone in the village took care of her like she was an invalid. She wasnt. When it was harvest time, she was better with the scythe than anyone else.

I saw you over by his house. Her bad eye bugged out. You better watch out or theyll burn you alive too! I shrugged.

Ill be in good company then. I said before I thought about it.

Her eyes narrowed and she began to stir her soup. Heard her muttering about the fragility of youth, and how often people died before it was their time to go.

I stared at the fireplace and wondered what it would be like to be consumed in fire in front of everyone. Screw that, it was getting dark. Had to kick Bobbys mother out before she saw me join the gargoyles in the walk down to that house of lust and sin.
