Notices Regarding Music For Trade
RE:  Los Angeles, CA  October 28, 1984 (posted April 3, 2005)

There have often been problems with the circulating version of this show.  Many 'fixes' attempt to support the contention that 'Open All Night' was played during this show, but there is no evidence to support the contention.  An intensive review of the recording within my collection was conducted to assess recording edits among songs and to assess consistency of crowd noises across the recording.  Upon completion of that assessement, there appeared to be five unbroken streams of musice across the three discs.  These are:
Tracks 01-09  (Born in the U.S.A. - Prove It All Night)  42:49
Tracks 10-16  (Darlington County - Thunder Road)  45:48
Tracks 17-24  (Cover Me - Bobby Jean)  43:18
Tracks 25-28  (Racing In The Streets - Jungleland)  40:10
Tracks 29-31  (Follow that Dream - Twist and Shout)  33:30
The edits correspond closely with the use of 90-minute cassettes (45 minutes per side).
It is also worthy to note: The sound quality is fairly consistent thoughout; 'Cadillac Ranch' boasts a "Wisconsin night" rather than the tell-tell "St. Louis" reference; There is no repetition of the set break speech; there are references to the same L.A. food bank and plant closures that tie the set to the L.A. 1984 stand; 'Badlands' after 'Born In The U.S.A. pinpoints 10/28 since no other night of the 7 shows has it in this setlist position; and there is a loud fan whooping near the taper who is consistently heard across the 5 presumed tape streams.  Hence I believe there is sufficient evidence in support that the recording is the real deal.
