| Paradise's Blue Bag Recycling Program: Helping and Enhancing our Environment |
| The Town of Paradise started the project on November 15, 2000. Participants may put out household plastics, refundable beverage containers, cardboard and paper. The money raised from these containers will go into a fund for the youth groups of Paradise. In return for doing an environmental project in the town, the youth groups will receive a donation to their group. There are now approximately 800 homes participating in the project. We have collected over 735,000 pounds of paper, 5000 pounds of household plastics and 172,000 pounds of cardboard and have exceeded 426,000 refundable beverage containers. Participants are asked to leave their recyclables on the curbside Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings (depending on the street) by 8 am for collection. The recyclables that have been collected have been sorted well by the participating residents. The important thing to remember about recycling is to CLEAN AND SEPARATE. Any resident of the targeted streets that wishes to participate please call Stephen Sharpe at the Town of Paradise, 782-3577. |
