The 5 Lifelong Guidelines
Active Listening

There are 5 parts to Active Listening:

1.  Eyes - Look at and "track" the
                 speaker
2.  Ears - Truly listen, pay attention to
what is being said.  Listening is
                 different from "just hearing".
3.  Mouth - Do not talk when another
                  person is speaking.
4.  Heart - What is the speaker feeling?
                  Plus, keep your emotions in
                  control so you don't interupt.
5.  Whole body - Keep your hands, feet,
                   whole body still.  Don't play
with items that are near you.
No Put Downs

Saying something that is negative or "mean" is a "put down".  Put downs hurt other people's feelings.  Saying that you are sorry does not take away the hurt.  So, as said in the movie "Bambi" by Thumper, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Personal Best

Try hard to do the very best that
you can do.  Do not compare yourself to others.  We all are special and have special gifts and talents.
Do
your best!
Trustworthiness

Show others that you can be trusted.  You can do this by keeping your promises and doing what you are suppposed to do.  Use the "LIFESKILLS", especially integrity and responsibility.
Truthfulness

Be honest.  You must be honest with yourself and with others.
