The Panic Parables Yahoo Group presents "The Ultimate Half-Blood Prince challenge"

Information Page

January|February|March|

Purpose: To prepare for the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince by reading and discussing the first five Harry Potter books, paticipating in challenges and chats, and theorizing about future plots.

How it works: Each month we will focus on one of the Harry Potter books starting with Harry Potter and the SS/PS. You recieve points for participating in each of the challenge's activites (re-reading a book, discussions, challenges, etc.). The person with the most points each month wins for that month, and the person with the most points at the end of the challenge becomes the "Ultimate Half-Blood Prince" aka the winner. The links above will go to pages that list the specific challenges for each month, and the winning entries from each challenge. If you're not a member of Panic Parables already, join here.

See monthly winners here.

What you get points for:
1. Re-reading the Harry Potter book we are discussing for the month (10 points). To let us know that you have read the book, vote in the "Harry Potter Book # Reading" poll. Vote yes when you re-read it, and we will identify you by your email address.

Points Spreadsheets (made by Mila) : January, February

2. Participating in or starting discussions on the yahoo group (2 points each). You must title your email "HP 1 Discussion - Topic", and put your yahoo name at the end of your email. If you are responding via email and you get daily digests, be sure to change the subject of your email and clip out text not related to your post. You may post as much as you wish for each topic, but you will only recieve points for your first post, and posts must be at least two sentences containing substinance.

3. Participating in mini challenges. There will be ~5 mini challenges a month. The challenges are listed on the month pages (see links above). You will get 5 points for each response.

4. Medi challenges. There will be 1 larger challenge per month. You will get 10 points for entering and an additional 5 points for second place and 10 points for first place. Post responses to these challenges in the files section of the group.

5. Triva challenge. For each month, there will be 10 trivia questions. Email the answers to [email protected]. You will get 1 point for each correct answer.

We will be having bi-weekly chats at 5pm EST (on weekend days only) to discuss the first and second half of the Book of the Month. No points will be awarded for chats (because it is not possible to find a time where everyone can come).

Rules
1. No spamming: please make sure that your post adds something to the discussion.
2. Put your yahoo name (or the name you want to go by for this contest) on each post and challenge entry.
3. Points will be listed in a spreadsheet on this site (link coming soon). Check there to make sure your points are correct.
4. Sign up for the challenge (if do any part of it) by adding your name and email address to the database.
