Feeling...: like a university student...how appropriate!
Listening to: Sheryl Crow (hence the title of this entry...) Oh but check this out. This is my greatest CD-buying story EVER: I've been wanting to buy the first Zero 7 CD for a long time now, since falling in love with them after Colin lent me the CD in April. I was all ready to buy it from Amazon.com for something like $25 in August, but by then I'd stopped working so I talked myself out of it (to get into the habit of not spending like a drunken sailor, as my dad would put it...) So I'm walking through the student center the other day, and every now and then they have sidewalk sales including things like used CDs...so guess what I found. Of course it was the Zero 7 CD, why else would I mention the two things together if they were completely unrelated. But it gets sweeter. It was still in the original wrappings - BRAND NEW - for TEN BUCKS!!!! CDs rarely ever fly off the shelves that fast...I also ended up getting "To the Five Boroughs",the new Beastie Boys, along with Groove Armada's "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)", and Underworld's Greatest Hits. So far I'm very happy with all of them :D
Excitement brewing over: oh lots of stuff but namely MY BIRTHDAY IN 15 DAYS!!!
Concerned about: *sigh* yesterday's MISA seminar on school success strategies scared me just a little. I mean so far so good but it's only the first week of classes...
People/things that made me smile: got mail from my dad today. It was so sweet, he photocopied a couple of pictures I'd drawn for him when I was 5 years old or something, to decorate his office with - one of them is a mermaid and the other is a couple of tulips with "you're the gratest [not a typo!!] dad in Toronto" written below. I opened the letter on my way up from the mailroom and it was an "awwwwwww!!!"-right-out-loud moment
New thing(s) Ive learned: so much already, and this is just the beginning...
On My Mind:so many things...the work ahead of me comes in first place, but there are too many close seconds to possibly mention all of them.
Additional witty comments (heh heh heh): I've been dying to update for so long now. At least it seems like so long...really though, it's been less than two weeks now since I moved in to Brandon Hall (that's our crest in the background). As I believe I've mentioned before, it's the biggest residence on campus ("We're bigger! We're better! Size DOES matter!") and I've got a single room on the third floor - right next to the garbage room, and directly across from the common room and the boys' bathroom (*arches eyebrows* quite a fine view through my peephole lol...just JOKING that's sick) I love my room. It's got a huge hallway leading from the inside of the door to the rest of the room which makes it seem considerably larger than most singles, and which also means I have lots of space to have people over :D

Frosh week was awesome. Everytime I've ever been involved in leading a group it's been my feeling that if you put in 200% of your enthusiasm, then the group you're leading will meet you somewhere halfway. Our frosh leaders did just that, and it ended up being an awesome way to get to know a ton of people. It's true that by the end of the week, with classes already started on the Thursday and a definite lack of sleep prevailing, support for the activities dwindled. But for those first few days, we were unceremoniously woken up at 7:30am by our CAs pounding on the doors and screaming into a megaphone - ensuring that just about everyone was out there cheering whatever the day's cheer happened to be (there were too many to count). I think the bedraces were my favourite competition. It was exactly what it sounds like - every residence hall had a "bed" (some were less traditional than others) on which the smallest resident of the building was seated, while a few others pushed it around the race track. We were competing for points towards winning the Welcome Week Cup, and part of those points came from how much spirit your audience displayed. We won both competitions - every single Brandonite was body painted in Brandon Blue, with two different groups of guys sporting letters painted onto their bare chests spelling out "Brandon Hall!!" (exclamation marks and all heh heh heh). Collective pride is a nice feeling. :D

Oh and let's not forget to mention the pyjama parade - I'd love to know how this "Mac tradition" actually started. The first years all put on their pjs and at 6pm we all walked down Sterling St. and Main St., and standing on the curb were all the upper year students who live in houses on that road. Now here's where it gets interesting: the tradition was that the upper years were allowed to kiss the froshies - on the cheek, unless otherwise agreed to ;). To top it off it was pouring rain...That is one part of frosh week I will never forget. My cheek smelled like beer towards the end of it - I have never been kissed like that before...

And then, of course, as the week was wrapping up, classes started and I began to realize why so many people warned me against taking a year off...heh heh heh no I'm just joking, I'm so glad I made that choice. Besides, my classes all seem really interesting, we've now started to get more into them and I rather like them all. I suppose that I could do without the review of functions for economics but if that's the worst of my concerns right now then I consider myself very, very lucky.

I just love how different everything is. I thrive on change, I'm pretty sure I've said that a few times before but I can't fully express how true it is for me. It's refreshing to be put in a situation like this, where everything is new and exciting and wonderful...

I'm getting really tired so I'm gonna wrap things up soon - but before I do: As you may have noticed, this site was somewhat neglected over the summer. Three entries throughout June, July and August...combined. This meant that while I was out working or sleeping or jigsaw-puzzle-ing or whatever else I managed to do this summer, a very important occasion was somehow overlooked...

the 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF PANDYWAFF!!!

Yes, that's right...two years of unabashedly spilling the beans to my own little Internet community, which may include more people than I'm aware of but for now let's assume you all know me pretty well and by association love this site almost as much as I do. I've heard the sophomore year is supposed to be the best one...
