it's not the destination that's important, it's the journey..

...And speaking of journeys: Winterfest was a couple of weekends ago :) Oh goodness...after taking almost 10 hours to reach Ottawa (due to a slightly major and very much unintentional detour to Quebec (!!) ) it was unanimously decided that next time, MapQuest absolutely MUST be consulted prior to leaving...it's all good though. When you're belting out songs from when pop was at its peak (i.e. when our age group was in junior high) you can forget for at least a little while that you haven't slept in well over 24 hours...

Three-way-ed on the phone last night with Carly and Denise, and we made plans for...hm...this trip to the Westin Harbour Castle needs some sort of name. Something like "Operation: GET DOWN" :D Anyway we decided we're gonna try Tonic on the Thursday night, and Guvernment for New Year's...I suppose it's not terribly original, considering they're two of the biggest clubs in Toronto, but we all agreed that it's not so much the place you go to as the energy of the people you're with. Case in point: "Thursday's", in Montreal. Getting there so early that the dance floor ("floor" as in the ENTIRE downstairs level of the building) was literally deserted - they hadn't even started playing music yet, if I remember correctly...and then when they did, and we were still the only ones there, it felt more than a little awkward at first. But then the excitement of the trip and being dressed up and "It's Raining Men" BLASTING overhead just forced us all to give in and let it all go and spin around in circles and laugh and sing and I don't know if I've EVER had as much fun dancing as I did that night.

I think it's safe for me to assume that this trip will top that about a million times over :D

Excitement really is the greatest feeling in life. The realization that anything could happen, that something will surely happen, and that chance, that likelihood that when it's all over you'll be left with a satisfaction that will make everything for a long time afterwards so much easier to deal with...

listening to: Feliz Navidad by Boney M..it's been a tradition at home since...well, forever, as far as I can remember, that every year during the holidays we'll play the Boney M Christmas record and this song in particular has always been our favorite :) Listening to it makes me think of coming downstairs in the morning in my pyjamas and the house is bright from the snow outside that was falling all night but stopped sometime around dawn and let the sun come out, and my baby boy keeps looking out the door meaningfully as if to say "you want to go for a romp just as much as I do!"...
