has it been two weeks ALREADY???
I know it's been a while since I last updated this site - but with good reason...stuff's been pretty busy lately!! Between school, Enigma (which I'll get to in a second), and certain social issues which are better left unmentioned, it's been a good two weeks since I've actually had the time to sit down and write things out here. But as they say...some things are worth waiting for! :)
So...for those of you who don't know, Enigma is the new student magazine at A.Y. Jackson S.S., and *yours truly* is the "content manager" - head writer. So far, this has meant days of planning, scheduling, and interviewing potential staff writers. 'Course, this probably sounds a lot more dull than it actually is...I'm quite enjoying all the feedback from other students. Apparently this is "the coolest thing to happen at A.Y. for a while" and we've gotten so many enthusiastic applicants it's just amazing. And to think...admin thought we'd fold in a week. (Hmph!)
I saw the movie "I am Sam" on Friday...it's one of the best movies I've ever seen, I definitely recommend it...either I'm becoming an emotional idiot or the acting was really powerful (and it's most likely the latter) because I was near tears during some parts...Possibly the best part, though, was that the entire soundtrack was covers of Beatles songs, performed by the likes of Eddie Vedder, Rufus Wainwright, The Wallflowers, and Sarah McLachlan. This movie proves that there really IS an appropriate Beatles song for every occasion...
Anyhoo...think that's all for now...I'll be more dilligent in writing from now on, I promise. *pinky swear*

The most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, MUPPETATIONAL news in a WHILE!!
OH...
MY...
GOD!!!!
A *certain someone's* birthday is coming up (*ahem* october 1st...DON'T FORGET!!!) and as a be-earliated b-day present from my family, I/we are now the very proud owners of a dvd player and - better still!! - MUPPETS DVDS!!! Six episodes of the Classic Muppet Show, with the likes of Julie Andrews and Paul Simon as guest stars...I was on the floor laughing at some of the skits (for example, "The Sound of Goats" with Ms. Andrews & the rest of the Muppet gang)...
And as for those of you shaking your heads right now, thinking I'm just easily amused by children's programming: a) the Muppet Show was NEVER intended to be a kid's show (just like "The Simpsons" wasn't either) and b) you're welcome to come over and watch some of these skits as I'm sure the only reason you don't appreciate them is because you've never actually seen them. 'Course, that's your loss...

Back in class and feeling...pretty good, actually
Today was the first real day of school...if the rest of the semester keeps up like this, I think I'll be alright. Made good use of my spare doing bio work (lightens the load of mammoth-sized textbooks I have to carry home) and actually understood the stuff we did in class. The sad part is that we're doing review from previous grades at the moment...but again, if the rest of the semester keeps up like this, I'll be fine. (and because I just said that, it probably won't...)
