Take me home!

this seems vaguely familiar...

Stuff's been pretty busy lately again...I'm telling you, teachers work in cycles whether they admit it or not, and they all come at you at once. If you've ever played "South Park" on N64 you'll know what I mean when I say they're like an angry pack of TURKEYS hunting you down and pecking at you till you scream "NO MORE!!" and go after THEM with a doll that farts poisonous gas.

(Okay so the poisonous gas thing was a little random. Sue me.)

But I have to give some credit where it's due...last Friday I came home after lunch and did something I hadn't done in a loooooong time: I took a shower (WAIT THERE'S MORE...lol eeeew), changed into my pjs (keeping in mind it was 2 p.m.), brought my big fluffy duvet down to the living room, curled up in it on the sofa with a book, and read for the whole afternoon. I don't know where along the way I stopped doing that but I didn't even remember how wonderful it was...used to do it all the time when I was younger and I think it's something I'm gonna start doing again from now on cause it's so...nice. And the aforementioned credit goes to the English department for giving us the task of reading two novels and writing an essay about them for our ISP - which, in itself, isn't exactly commendable - but since the deadline was placed within the next two weeks, I was forced into spending a few leisurely hours immersed in the world of Beck Davitch (from "Back When We Were Grownups" by Anne Tyler...I don't recommend the book, the ending was pretty awful...but the reading itself was enjoyable).

you thought i was JOKING about "convos with mittens", huh?

Ah, midterms...when all your illusions of awe-inspiring achievement come tumbling down like a house of cards, and you're left playing "52-pick-up". Realistically, you already know what your mark will be...but there's always that faint hope within each of us that the one time you actually did well on something will pull your entire average up about 20% and you'll no longer be classified as the "phht...yeah RIGHT" type of student.

Enough about school. Good news: IT'S MITTEN SEASON!! *hurray* I'd almost forgotten about them...it started to get cold and I wondered why I had suddenly joined the masses with their ritual complaints about the changing weather - um, news for the whiners: Canadian winters are NEVER warm. But that doesn't have to be a problem if you've got a mitten friend to keep your mind off the cold! You all laugh or give me strange looks now...but maybe I'll turn this peculiarity into a multi-million dollar industry - move over, Jim Henson - and THEN we'll see where your normalness (is that a word?) got YOU.

OOOOH, I almost forgot to mention this: my latest craze right now is SHIMMER POWDER. I just love this stuff...it's my kinda make-up - quick, easy, and pretty...and it doesn't feel like you've got a whole lotta guck on your face. I swear, this is THE beauty product of the season. (Suddenly I feel like one of those overly perky Shoppers "cosmetologists"...)

Anyhoo...thanks to the English department, I have an overload of reading to do and something of an early start tomorrow morning - anything before 10:30 on a weekend is considered "early". So-ooooo...tootles!

"I remember"...???

I can understand the importance of recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of those who died in the World Wars...but seriously, today's assembly was a mockery of everything Rememberance Day stands for. Okay...maybe not EVERYTHING...but they made it so falsely solemn that no one bought it anyway and by the end of it, the whole cafeteria was suppressing laughter. It was too long, possibly in an attempt to demonstrate the seriousness of the matter...but length does not equal importance, and that's where their mistake was. They could've shown a clip of "Saving Private Ryan" - in three minutes the room would have been overcome in horrific silence at the realization of the atrocities these men had to face. Personally, just the introduction of that movie (since that was all I could stand without upchucking...) had more of an effect than all of the Rememberance Day assemblies I've ever had to sit through COMBINED...

IT'S DONE!! it's finally, finally D-O-N-E *yay*

What a RELIEF!! The ISP for biology that I've been working on for WEEKS is finally duotang-ed and ready to go...I'm scared to touch it right now lest it spontaneously combust and I won't have anything to hand in tomorrow...at this point I just want to throw the stupid thing at the Werdenator and run around the room doing cartwheels cause I'm FREE, BABY! (well...for a few minutes...then I have a chem test second period *sigh* oh, the pains of studenthood)

Meanwhile, if I get the time I'm contemplating writing a piece for Enigma - a rant 'n' rave, we have the space for it - about what to do and what NOT to do when you like someone (namely what NOT to do, though...)I think it could teach some people a thing or two...

Anyhoo, aside from school work there's not a whole lotta interesting things going on right now...hey, everyone has their down-time, even DyNaMiTe DiVaS like me! :D

As if on cue...

November 1st and it's already snowing...no complaints from me, though, I can't WAIT till there's three feet of the stuff on the ground! (maybe we'll have to call in the ARMY again...heh heh heh...)

Had my third biology test today...it's the reason why I've been neglecting this site lately, but I think in the end it'll pay off cause the way I figured it, I'm looking at a low-70% for this one (I could be either dead on or HORRIBLY off...). If I'm right, I'm throwing a party :D

Other stuffs...I feel like a psychiatrist lately, everyone's coming to me for "guidance" heh heh heh...not the usual bunch, either. People I wouldn't expect to say more than "hey" in passing are now coming to talk to me about things that are deeper than casual conversation. It's actually really interesting (I'm not a nerd, it's TRUE) to talk to all these different people. They give away more about themselves than they're aware of - we all do, I suppose - and in turn I realize things about myself at the same time. It's amazing the kind of self-discovery that can occur during a 70-minute spare!

Anyhoo...think that's all for now...oh, one last thing...HAPPY (belated) HALLOWEEN!! ;)
