You looked me in the eye and asked me,
Your tone pleading,
You were on the verge of tears.
You asked me to save you,
Save you from the overwhelming darkness.
I tried, tried to pull you away, and I almost failed.
Your hands almost slipped through mine, and you could have been lost forever.
But I didn't give up, I won't let you go.
I tugged and bit my lip, looking deep within me for more strength,
The strength I needed to save you with.
Lucky for us, for the edge of the pit was starting to crumble,
Just as I pulled you out of harm's way.
Now I must ask you to return the favor,
The walls are closing in fast,
The darkness that once haunted you has come for me at last.
Now here I am, down on my knees,
Begging you to...please...
Save me.
