CHAPTER 13

"Your lover, or shall I say your brother, is away right now for a gallery exposition, correct? the pink-haired journalist asked, gnawing on the end of her pen. Her name was Bebe Langdon, and she was now a well-known journalist for the New York Times, no longer working the graveyard shift at a small cinema in Albany.

Yes, he should be returning tonight, actually, Hiro said, his eyes sparkling. Hes been promoting his latest collection, inspired by his teenage years in New York. Its one I think youd appreciate greatly, Miss Langdon.

The interview lasted another thirty minutes before Bebe had to run out the door to catch a plane back to her apartment in the States. You see, Hiro and Kane moved up to Canada after their college graduation, finally obtaining that new life they had been searching for. Lizzy and Blaine came to visit often, bringing their daughters and young son with them to play with their godfathers. The teen who had been obsessed with writing was now a published author, hitting the best-sellers charts more often then not. People would sit on the edge of their seats all the way through the novels, hearts skipping a beat when a tragedy befell their personal favorite character, thanks to Hiros ability to bring even ink and paper figments of imagination to life. Kane was a painter, his work featured in galleries all over the world, one even displayed in Paris Louvre.

Now twenty-five, but feeling much older, Hiro rose to his feet, strolling almost lazily to the kitchen to prepare dinner. By the time it was finished, his lover was walking through the door, a smile on his face.

We sold every single piece! Kane exclaimed, dropping his luggage, running up to his twin who had just turned around at the sound of footsteps, pulling him into his arms and swinging him around.

Thats fantastic! Hiro replied, kissing his brother soundly. And he meant it. Though being away from his lover was hard to endure, he couldnt pretend that Kanes work wasnt important. It was a large part of their income, and the fact that they sold out nearly every show did little to hurt the joy experienced when they were back home.

Happy endings werent Hiros thing; in fact he specialized in tragedies. But this was one story that fairy tales were made of. Two lovers, locked in a passionate kiss in the middle of their own home, parting to gaze at each other with longing and lust. Dinner was a forgotten meal that night; but the night Hiro and Kane Mendego spent in each others arms was worth every missed bite.
