Chapter Eight
A week later, things had finally calmed down. JC did everything in his power to keep Melissa in his sight at all times. He rarely left her side, making sure to keep his promise to her that no one would hurt her again. Melissa's nerves had finally started to ease up while having JC around. Brian didn't even try to contact her that whole week, and she was relieved and had assumed that he had finally given up.

JC shook his head and hung up his cell phone as he tapped his foot and ran his fingers through his hair, trying to decide what to do. He had just recieved a phone call from Johnny wanting to have a quick meeting with him and the rest of the guys to go over confirmations  for their new tour. JC let out a deep sigh and let his eyes wander towards the stairs; Melissa was upstairs still asleep. He debated with himself for a few moments on whether or not to leave her a note, go to the meeting, and then get back as soon as possible, or if he should just blow off the meeting and make up some excuse about his absence, then call Johnny later. He shook his head and stood up, then walked slowly up the stairs. He knew that he had to attend the meeting and that there was no way of getting out of it.

He knocked quietly on her door and slowly opened it when he didn't get a response. She was curled up under blankets, with her short blond hair scattered across her pillow. He let his lips curve into a slight smile as he watched her sleep. He didn't want to wake her up, but he didn't want to leave a note and risk her missing it, then panicking cause he wasn't there either.

JC slowly walked into the room and sat on the edge of her bed, and nudging her gently, "Melissa?"

She sighed in her sleep and rolled over onto her back, "Hmm?" she mumbled quietly. He laughed softly and brushed her bangs away from her eyes, "Hey, I have to go meet up with Johnny and the guys real quick for a meeting, I swear I'll be back as soon as I can, ok?"

"Uh-huh." she mumbled, curling back up. He smiled and shook his head, then pulled the blankets over her tighter, softly kissed her forehead, then quietly walked downstairs and got into his jeep.

About two hours later, Melissa had finally woken up. She sat up and let out a deep sigh while she rubbed the remaining sleep from her eyes. She vaguely remembered JC waking her up to tell her he had a meeting to go to. She slightly shrugged her shoulders to herself and rolled off the bed. She grabbed a halter top from her dresser and some denim cut offs, then walked into the bathroom and got into the shower trying to wake herself up.

A key had quietly slipped into the front lock of Melissa's door. The door opened slowly and a figure walked into the house looking around, then looked towards the stairs hearing the shower on. The man started to scale the stairs when he heard a car door shut. He quickly looked out the window and panicked when he saw JC walking up the sidewalk. The man grabbed a piece of paper and ran up to Melissa's room and jotted down a quick note, then crawled out her window, leaving it open, then shimmied down the guttering.

JC grabbed his keys and found the spare key to her house that Melissa had given him, and went to unlock the door. He cocked an eyebrow to himself when the door was partially open. He slowly pushed it open and looked around slowly. He shut the door quietly, and inched his way into the living
room, still looking around. He looked up at the stairs when he heard the shower being turned off.

"Melissa??" he yelled up the stairs. "Yeah JC?" she yelled back, as she stepped out of the shower, dried off and slipped her clothes on, then started towel drying her hair. He rubbed his face and let out a deep sigh of relief. "Nothin'! I was just seein' if you were up yet!" he lied.

He laughed to herself then walked back out to her room, cocking an eyebrow to herself seeing that her bedroom window was open. "That's funny. I don't remember opening that." She told herself. She shrugged it off and walked over to her dresser, grabbed her brush and started to brush her hair, when she noticed a note on her dresser. Without even thinking she picked it up and started to read it.

"Melissa, thought you got rid of me, didn't ya?! Well have I got some news for you! I have ALWAYS been watching. I know EVERY move you've made this week, and I also know that you're precious little Joshua has been there too! Here's a little warning sweetheart; you won't know when it's gonna happen, it'll come when you LEAST expect it, but it's coming... I'm gonna get you Melissa... mark my words.

Melissa was frozen, and had started to shake violently. She clenched her eyes shut and screamed, sinking down onto her bed clutching the note in her hands.
