| Fearless. That's what she was. No amount of evil could frighten her or so she had thought. But that's when she learned of Luca. More powerful than she had ever imagined she had been warned to stay away. And so she did as she was told. She walked briskly down the dark, dangerous streets of New York, searching. For what? She wasn't quite sure. Maybe it was the fight. The kill. The one night she wanted someone to start something with her. Yet, no one seemed to be around. And she was growing restless. Her head whipped around as she heard a loud clatter behind her. She frowned as she saw a gray striped cat knock over a metal trash can. She rolled her eyes and turned back to resume her walk. She gasped as she came face to face with two dead eyes. She took a step back to examine who had startled her. Her lip curled in disgust as she looked at him. One of those tough looking freaks that loitered the street, picking fights. Unlucky him. He pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at her face. She saw the insignia on the gun and looked at him curiously. "The name's Luca." And he pulled the trigger. She woke up in a cold sweat, her breathing quicker than usual. She smoothed her light brown hair back and ran a hand over her face. These nightmares were reoccurring. They never ended. Which might be why the lust to fight consumed her. She stood and looked outside the window, and frowned as she saw a young man running for his life. Grabbing her duster she jumped out onto the fire escape and easily maneuvered herself down the stairs to the ground. She ran after the group and caught up with them, just as she saw the man surrounded, back against the chained link fence. Pulling out her gun, she quietly crept behind the leader of the pack, careful to go unnoticed. "Alright, where is it?!" The man shook his head. "I don't know! Have what?!" The man with the gun, growled. "Don't play stupid with me. You know damn well what I'm talking about ! I want the pendant!" She could feel his anger radiating from him and knew it was time for an intervention. Swiftly, she kicked the gun out of his hand and as it hit the ground kicked it over to the trapped man. Bending over he picked it up, as the other 2 men rushed him. She sighed, hoping he knew how to take care of himself. She focused her attention back on the man, who was glaring at her with anger. Leaping toward her, he knocked her down, knocking the wind out of her. Grunting, she pulled the knife she always kept in her boot and brought it up, piercing him. Rolling him off her, she pulled out her gun and shot him, ensuring he wouldn't cause any more harm. She diverted her attention back to the man, as he finished off another of the pack. He looked up at her, as he crossed the distance between them. "Who were they?" She asked. He shrugged. "No clue. But thanks. I was outnumbered and unarmed. Pretty stupid thing to do while being in New York." She nodded. "Not pretty stupid. Really stupid. I wouldn't let it happen again. Next time, I won't be randomly looking out my window." He smiled. "Thanks again. I'm JC." She nodded, briskly. "Aira." He nodded, as he took in the sight of her. Her appearance seemed innocent enough. Never had he imagined a girl looking like that would ever come to his rescue. Long, flowing light hair, jade eyes, pale skin. Her black leather duster covered her leather pants and boots. She reminded him of one of those demon hunters seen on tv. She saw him looking at her curiously, and she rolled her eyes. Nave she was not, despite her appearance. Glancing down the alleyway, she saw dark figures advancing toward them and she cursed under her breath. Grabbing his arm, she pulled him back towards her apartment. "What the..?" She broke out into a run, swinging up onto the stairs. "There's more." That was all it took for him to follow her up throughout the window inside. She slammed the window down, and sprinted over to the door, locking it. "I'd have to say I've had enough excitement for one night, haven't you?" She turned around to see him at the window watching down. She saw he had dark brown hair, lean build, and cerulean eyes. They were like two ocean pools, they were so blue. The most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. He wore a duster similar to her own, which emitted a mysterious dangerous aura. She sighed and sat down. "Is that the pendant they're after?" she asked, referring to the one around his neck. He looked down and shrugged. "I honestly don't know If they were, I'd have thought Luis would have told me." She nodded, absently, still gazing at the strange pendant. "I should get back. They're probably wondering where I am." She nodded. "I have work to attend to as well." He smiled. "Thanks again for all your help." She nodded, and opened the door to let him out. "Maybe I'll see you around." He said, trying not to let the hope show in his voice. She shrugged. "Maybe." And then he was gone, just as quickly as he had came. Two |
