| Chapter Two | ||||||
| "Face lost in a crowd, feet wandering empty streets, voice crying out loud, heart aching with every beat, someone searching, searching for someone, everywhere and endlessly, wishing, waiting, could there be someone searching for... someone searching..."-Ginny Owens | ||||||
| Aira leaned back in her chair, boots propped up on the table. "So, what's next?" The girl next to her rolled her eyes. "Aira, you've got too much spunk. It's gonna get you killed if you're not careful." Aira looked over at the brown haired girl sitting beside her and shook her head. Her name was Elise, and she wasn't all that fond of Aira. Of course it didn't surprise her, considering the two were completely different. The only bond they shared was that they were fighting under the same. "Alright you two, enough. Is everyone here?" A tall man asked, glancing around the room. After being sure everyone was there, he sat, taking out a folder. "Seems like we've got a new case. Whew. Worth $50,000 alone" He trailed off, skimming the rest of the paper. "Interesting. The picture is a bit blurred, but you should be able to pick him out when you see him. We want him alive. That's sufficient enough information. Aira, Elise, I want you two working together on this one. And don't do anything drastic." He said, looking towards Aira. She looked away at the folder, that was passed to her. "He is the one with angel eyes. He shouldn't be too hard to spot." Aira's face went white, as she recognized him as the man she had saved earlier. "Why do we want him?" Zak looked at her, surprised. "Does it matter?" Aira shrugged. "Curiosity killed the cat." He sighed. "He has connections with Luca. We think he might lead us to him. Plus he wears a pendant, that could hold potential value for us. Aira, are you feeling ok?" She broke out of her trance and nodded. "Yeah, I just it's nothing." Elise smiled to herself as she saw the picture. "He's pretty cute, if you don't mind my saying. After we catch him, can we have some fun?" Aira rolled her eyes. "Shut up Elise." She stood, stretching. "So, find him and bring him here? Sounds easy." Zak shrugged. "Here's a list of potential places you'll find him. Good luck, girls." Aira headed for the door, ignoring Elise's yells to wait for her. 'The one with the angel eyes Fits him perfectly.' She sighed, and wandered toward X a club just past her apartment. Anyone who was anyone important in the business would be there, she knew. And that was her destination. 'What kind of connections does he have with Luca?' She walked into the smoke-filled club and scanned the room in search of him. She turned toward the bar and ordered her usual and sighed. She felt Elise plop down next to her and she rolled her eyes, annoyed. She hated being paired up. She was a natural loner and liked to handle things by herself. "Rough day at the office?" A voice asked her. She turned to who she thought was Elise and saw him sitting there. She shrugged. "You could say that. What about you?" He frowned. "They have no clue who the guys were that ganged up on me. Probably just a bunch of guys looking for a fight." She shrugged. "Probably." He looked at her. "C'mon." She looked at him confused. "Dance?" She sighed, as she had nothing else to lose. She stood and walked over to the floor, where he wrapped his arms around her waist, drawing her to his chest. Surprised, at his boldness, she wrapped her arms around his neck, lowering his head to hers. As they danced, she couldn't stop the nagging voice in the back of her head, telling her that she was on a mission. That he was in relations with Luca Luca. That name sent chills down her spine and she pulled away. "I've gotta go." And she grabbed her jacket from where she'd been previously sitting and left towards home. It was the perfect opportunity to bring him back, but something inside her told her not to do it. Not until she knew more. As she walked, she faintly heard her name being called behind her. She knew it was him, and as much as she wanted to stop and wait for him, she couldn't. "Aira!" He sighed in defeat. He didn't understand why she had run away "Hey there." He heard a smooth voice behind him, and he turned around to see who the voice belonged to. He saw a girl with long dark brown hair smiling seductively. "The name's Elise. And who are you, sugar?" **************************************************************** "So, who is this mysterious girl that whisked my boy off his feet?" A booming voice asked. The blonde girl beside him shrugged. "I forgot her name. But she annoyed me. And she fought well." He nodded, and scratched his chin. "Interesting. BUT I WANT A NAME!" The girl flinched, and stepped back. "Ok, ok. Look, I'll get one, alright? I know where she lives. I'll use my sources to see what I can find out, don't get your panties in a wad, Luca." He banged his fist down on the table. "Lora, that's enough." She smiled and walked behind him. Massaging his shoulders she whispered in his ear. "When is the boy due back?" Luca shrugged, rolling his head back to the side. "Who cares? For our sake, I hope he never comes back." ***************************************************************** Three |
