W
e got to Sandra's about 3:00. It was great seeing them again.
David was at work, but got home not long after we got there.
Arriving at their home is like stepping into a postcard scene,
with the cozy cabin nestled between the mountains.
It was a such a beautiful fall day, the weather was just perfect for a camp fire.
Paul and David built a camp fire while Sandra and I listened to
some Dave Matthews music while preparing all the fixings for dinner.
We made Consume' rice, salad, baked potatoes, and a strawberry shortcake.
We sat outside around the camp fire, grilled steaks and roasted marshmallows
in the fire.
It was so peaceful you could hear nothing but the breeze blowing
through the leaves, and the cracking and popping of the fire.
We had such a great time talking and telling jokes, and laughing our arses off.
I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
Later in the evening Sandra and I kicked
Paul and David's butts playing rook.
the next
morning we made breakfast
we sat out on the deck and had some hot chocolate.
then,
around noon,
we drove back to Newport News.
We had such a good time, as always.
We left making plans and promises to get together again soon.
on the way home we saw a beautiful rainbow over the mountains,
an exclamation point on a wonderful weekend.
