Today we drove from Newport News, Va to White Sulphur springs, WV  to visit
Sandra and David, and to celebrate their anniversary and David's birthday.

We were treated to a beautiful display of fall colors on the way

Charlottesville, VA

We stopped for breakfast in Charlottesville, Va.
Well, the best thing about Charlottesville is that it is the home of  Dave Matthews,
and the birthplace of Dave Matthews Band.

Miller's

Millers -- This pub is an institution, but is known for its music, not its food. Dave Matthews tended bar here back in the day and met his future bandmates here.
They weren't open when we went by, it was still a bit early.

The pink warehouse, Dave Matthews often practiced here and made
it famous by the song "Warehouse" and named his fan club "The Warehouse"

We stopped in at a very unique wine shop
and bought a bottle of wine
 from
Dave's vineyard

The Prism was originally founded by a group of UVA students in 1966.
Up until the mid-70s, the Prism remained a popular venue for local and
regional folk performers, Joan Baez once stopped in to introduce her friend Bob Dylan, and in 1972 a rising young singer and guitarist from Washington D.C. named Emmylou Harris played at the Prism for the typical 75¢ cover.

Prism regulars, and local heroes Tim Reynolds, Mando Mafia and Corey Harris are annual favorites. Dave Matthews, Béla Fleck, Ani DiFranco, Nanci Griffith and Alison Krauss are former Prism artists who now pack stadiums and civic centers.

Dave also has a farm in Charlottesville named  "The Best of What's Around".
Situated on over 1200 acres of land they  produce grass fed beef and lamb,
pastured eggs, vegetables and herbs. their eggs, herbs, lettuces and salad greens are available year round. Look for pick-your-own pumpkins in the fall ,
farmstead cheeses, berries, honey, sweet and hard cider.

Other than being known as the home of Dave Matthews, Charlottesville is also
a beautiful mid-size town on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The home of President Thomas Jefferson, who designed the University in town,
is located just outside town.Jefferson's architectural influence can be seen
throughout the town.

The downtown mall is a gathering place for townspeople with a wonderful
outdoor walkway down the center of the mall area.

Charlottesville has a great small town atmosphere in a mid-size town.

Throughout downtown, there's a number of black-painted wooden people
in various poses.  This one involves a man holding up a bust of what appears
to be a man.  Other ones involve a mother being pulled along by her kid, a woman carrying shopping bags, a man walking, and others.
