Here's KitKat.....

Hi Everyone!  I live in South Florida and have been married for 25 years.  I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.  We live on a small (10 acre) ranch.

MY GREMLINS

Brandon aka *brat* - He will be 7 years old this October.  He's a Seal-Point Himalayan.  If anything is happening in my house you can be sure that Brandon is at the bottom of it!
Sassy: She is Brandon's litter mate and is a Torie-Point Himilayan.  She is my shy girl.  Over the years she has gotten better at coming out  when strangers are in the house.
Cal: She is a Calico Persian.  She was rescued from an animal shelter 9 years ago.  She is also called "little heart" because the first time we laid eyes on her at the shelter she stole our hearts.

MY BOYS

Bob-Bob: Left to me by my daughter-in-law.  He is grey and white and the sole purpose in his life is to be held and loved.
Raymond: Seal-Point Siamese.  We caught him on one of our live traps last year.  We are sure someone dropped him but he is ours now, *forever*.  He is my first meezer.  I can't believe the energy he has.
Winston: Just rescued this past summer.  Someone has declawed him, put him outside, and moved....leaving him to fend for himself.  He is quite a large cat...now weighing 16lbs.  He was 12 lbs. when I rescued him.

THE GIRLS

Sophie: She is a sorrell Cracker, which is a local breed.  She is 9 years old and getting fat because Mom spends too much time at this computer.  *GRIN*
Lena: She is a 13 year old Arab (also getting fat).

OUR RAINBOW ANGEL

Binky: He was given to me by my daughter-in-law a couple years before he passed away.

THE BIRDS

Horatio and Harriet (the Guineas):

I will miss Acme....but we now have this great board.

Meet Linda!

Name:  Linda Gillian   Age: 60 (sheesh!)
Husband's Name:  Charlie  Age: 54 (I robbed the cradle)

I'm a LAN (Local Area Network) Administrator for a local community college.  Charlie is a trucker.  We live in a suburb of Baltimore, MD,  and have been doing cat rescue for over
20 years.    We have a large cat population and they're way too numerous to name here.  I'm in the process of writing several novels, all cat related and hope to have at least one published before I'm too old to read without a magnifying glass.   I'm hoping someday to have my own website.  Charlie and I are known to most old-timers as the Intrepid Trappers I & II.

As for me, I am slowly figuring out the direction I want my life to take. I've struggled through a lot in the past years, the biggest hardship being the depression that I've been battling.  I've heard that a lot of people don't like to tell anyone about their depression... I find that sharing my story helps people to understand who I am and what I'm about. I live in West Milford, NJ, with my mother.  My furbabies are with my father in Moneta, VA.  Mom's got allergies, and as much as she loves animals, we can't have anything here but my goldfish I got in 1983 named Jaws.  Yep, older than dirt, he is.  I got him by throwing a ping pong ball into a Solo cup at a local fair.
Board Name: Lynny
Real Name: Lyndsay
Nickname: Junebug

Hello, I'm Lyn, I'm 23, (June 23, 1979. email me to find out where to send all of the presents.)  I found Acme a while ago, and was a lurker on the rescue & transportation board.  But then, in October of 2002,
Carla, my shelter furkid, had run out of time.  It was a long story, but basically she had lived in the shelter all of her life, and she just hadn't been adopted.
I posted on the R&T board, desperate to find a home for Carla.  +Rachel saw my post there, and crossposted to the Cat board.  The rest, as people say, is history.  With the help of many wonderful AcmeCat people, Carla is now happily living her life in a home with Tammy in Louisiana.  I will forever be grateful to everyone for that...
I've volunteered at the local animal shelter since 1999, and I adore the work.  It actually has caused me to seriously think about going to vet school... For now I have my communications degree and am just looking for a job, any job, something so I can keep my car and pay my bills!!! AUGH!
Anyhoo, I ended a 5 year relationship in July of 2002, and that was a real turning point in my life.  I've learned so much about myself, like the fact that my lust for Ewan McGregor could actually GROW.  Unbelievable, but true.  (Moulin Rouge, anyone?)  I could ramble on for days about all of my ridiculous loves, but anything else you'd want to know can be found by talking to me.

I have 3 cats and 2 dogs:
Calli, who is about 10, Sam, about 7, and Tia, also about 10.  Calli came to us first at around 1 yr or so, when my father still lived in West Milford.  She was part of an indoor/outdoor cat colony, discovered when I was about 12 and at my then best friend's house.  I fell in love the minute I met Calli.  Back then she was a playful, sweet, cuddly calico who would fetch anything you'd throw for her. Well, she's still a calico.  She's a little arthritic and usually not very tolerant of other animals, but she's the queen of the household and that's all that matters to her.  She has a chirpy purr. And she no longer fetches.  If you throw anything up the stairs, she'll run up after it, then sit at the top of the stairs and look at you.  She knows that if she looks cute enough, I'll go up there and get it for her.  And I do.
Sam came from the same cat colony as Calli.  My brother Picked himout.  I didn't want Sammy at first; I had wanted an orange kitten that had found a home about 10 minutes before I found out we could get another cat.  But Sam was an adorable little puffball when we got him, and he grew to be a sleek, handsome, silver-gray tabby, who tried to get along with Calli, but she shunned him.  So he fell for our schnauzer, Max.  The two were very close.  In early 1997, we lost Max.  Sam was heartbroken, and the house was a bit quieter until that September, when my father adopted Beau from the West Milford Animal Shelter.  I quickly fell in love with this dog. He has been there for me through everything, always giving me a supportive, soft shoulder to cry on.  He's my boy and I love him dearly.
In 1999, my father moved to Virginia, and with him the animals went.  In early 2001, yet another animal joined the clan.  Gretel, the dachshund.  She is a nut... she loves being picked up and smothered with affection.  She occasionally tortures the cats by chasing them around.  Calli turns and hisses, Sam gives chase until he gets bored, then he jumps up on something high.  And Tia joined the family officially on January 12, 2003, although she was well-loved from the moment she entered the West Milford Animal Shelter in September of 2002.  She valiantly fought off ringworm and is ready for a life filled with love.

Laura (Piglet's mom)...

My name is Laura and I am a 28 year old recruiter, originally from Detroit, Michigan.  My hobbies include scrapbooking, writing for a major Earth-based Spirituality magazine, and being ignored by my cat. I am married to Matt who is a 29 year old internet security manager also from Detroit.  His hobbies include playing the drums, watching football and being loved on by his cat.  Our cat's name is Piglet and she is a 2 year old Sphynx (hairless cat - like Mr. Bigglesworth).  Her hobbies include eating, playing with mousies and worshiping her daddy.  Our whole little family  packed up and moved to Atlanta, Georgia this spring.
Our background kitty, BB, lives with and was painted by Vickie Moore,

Although this is a cat board, my dogs are part of the family too.  Here is a picture of Oscar the beagle, 5 years old, and Red Dog, who is only about 18 months old but already 80 pounds.  Red is a mixed breed, possibly pit bull and lab or Doberman.
Kittykids....
My name is Jay P., although you all know me as "kittykids".  I have been posting at acmepet (and now AHOC) since 1999.  I live near Natchez, Mississippi, and work as a forester on the Homochitto National Forest.  Now for the important stuff: I currently have six cats and two dogs.  Let me introduce them:
William The Cat: my eldest, at 10 years old.  Willie was born in a horse barn in Kentucky, from which I adopted him and his brother Hank when they were about 3 months old.  They moved with me from KY, to FL, and on to MS, where Hank was killed by a car when they pushed out the screen window and escaped.  Willie is top cat around here, commanding the best seats, first food bowl, and most attention. He is such a lover, too

Shown with Willie is
LacyJay.  This pretty girl was dumped as a tiny kitten, left in a bucket on my truck in the middle of the night, in the rain.  I nursed her to health, gave her to a friend, who gave her to my neighbors, who gave her to me as a going-away gift!  Guess I should have kept her in the first place, eh?  At 4 years old LacyJay is still tiny, weighing just over 4 pounds, and she is SO sweet!  First girl cat I have had in a long time, and I love her bunches!
LacyJay and Willie
Furbutt is second-oldest, at 8.  He was dumped outside my Florida home, and matched the other two so well he had to stay (my excuse, anyhow!).  A bit of a bully, but sweet to humans if they don't touch his tail, Furbutt is in constant competition with Boo2 for second-in-command.  That is why this picture is so unusual: Boo2 and Furbutt rarely share spaces like this!

Boo2 came to me just days after my black cat Boo passed away - in fact, I had not told my neighbor about Boo's passing, and she thought this cat in her shed WAS Boo. He looked the same, although skinnier, and has the same attitude.  I waited for weeks to name him, feeling he should have a name of his own, but the fact is I can't look at him without seeing my old Boo-boy.  Thus, the new cat stayed, and became Boo2.  Very shiny black boy with a little white spot on his chest, and the talker of my bunch - wakes me up each morning to chat before I get up.
Furbutt and Boo2
Boudreaux is a brown tabby, about 4 years old.  He was dumped at my mom's house in Louisiana, and bears the name of nearby residents.  He was Boo's best friend, and now is a bit of a loner, though he spends more and more time with Willie.  Boudy is a very loving and tolerant cat with children.

Cat number six is
Lucinda Josephine Amoretta P., called  Lucy-Jo for short.  She was dumped at my office, and is now nearly 2 years old.  I had no intention of keeping her, but LacyJay actually loves her, playing with this kitten like she never has with other fosters I have brought home.  Lucy-Jo fits in here just fine, and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

I have been married to my hubby Michael for close to 23 years!  We have no 2 footed kids, but lots of 4 footed ones.  I am an old Acmepet person from the animals only board, so you may recognize some of my pets names.

Koko-seal point siamese and the oldest at 6 years.

Xena-rescued Somali also 6.  She is a doll!

Abbigail-also 5, she is a munckin, and a bossy cow!

Georgie-an ocicat orange, with spots and a twisty tail. He is very smart, and is usually in some kind of trouble.

Issy-a fat white pound kitty. She is a huge butterball totally devoted to my dad.
Lil Ralphie a meezer-1/2 brother to Koko, they have the same father.

Hairy-a sphynx inspired by Piglet. He is a mama's boy! He just turned 1 this past October.

My name: Karen Norman

Alias:
Kandy- no, I am not an old stripper or exotic dancer.

I am a retired accounting clerk; married 30 years to a man named Tony, 2 daughters and 1 son-   7 grandsons, 1 granddaughter   and 1 great granddaughter.

My husband and I are owned by 4 cats and one dog.
Our oldest cat is Jacob (Jake) Orangejello- He is an orange and white tabby. He showed up on our front doorstep 7 years ago and decided that he was our cat. I walked the neighborhood trying to find his owners but nobody would claim him. I thought, gee, he is so neat; someone would be looking for him. Nobody came to our door or called so, I said, he is our cat. He loves kids. When our grandchildren come over, he just goes nuts over them. He plays with them and rubs his face on them. He is very loving towards the kids and me. Jacob is a very special cat; in fact, I tend to think that
Jacob (Jake) Orangejello
he is a bit retarded. Poor thing. He use to growl at the pizza man when he delivered to the house across the street. We never figured out why he would do that but when he saw the car pull up with the pizza sign on it, he would sit at the window and growl... His favorite sleeping position is on his back with all four of his paws in the air. Yes, he is unique and I guess that is what we love about him.
Our next to the oldest is Cutter. We got him at Pet Smart 7 years ago after Jake showed up. We went to Pet Smart to pick up some Cat Food and they were having an adoption going on. Tony   told me before we went in that we were just getting cat food.   There were two orange cats in one cage and this little orange tabby reached through, grabbed my pant leg, and meowed. He was so charming. The other cat was friendly also but not as aggressive as this orange boy. My husband fell in love right there in Pet Smart. We walked out with our cat food and a Cat in a box. When we got home, we let him out of the box and did not see him again for about 3 weeks. We would get a glimpse of him as he scurried by us on his way to hide but we did not touch him or hold him until he decided to have something to do with us. I could not believe that sweet boy that was reaching for us through the bars was this anti-social cat! Tony named him Cutter because he cut a path through the living room to the bedroom under the bed.
Cutter
He does not like anyone but Tony and me. He likes to be called Baby" and will answer to his name or when you sing, You are my Sunshine. He catches mice, crickets and grasshoppers and brings them to us alive. He comes in with them in his mouth and cries like a mama cat calling its kittens. I have learned to not appreciate that sound, especially after the time he came in with a live mouse and turned it loose in bed with us and the dang thing bit my finger. It was very un-nerving to have to get out of bed in the middle of the night, chase down a mouse, and toss it out the back door when you were sound asleep.
The next guy I have is Preston; I got him this past year. He was born in August 2005. Kat posted a picture of his sister on the board and I asked her if there were any more like her. She told me the woman had a male kitten. I had to have this kitten. No other would do but him. I got in touch with the lady and made arrangements to adopt him and what happened?

He had a spell with Coccidiosis. Since this is a highly infectious disease, I would not accept him until he was well and I asked that he be neutered and have his rabies shots before I got him.

It took me about a couple of months before he was ready. Since then he has grown into a handsome young male cat.  He is still very loving and wakes me each
Preston
morning by rubbing his face on mine. He loves his toys and will run through the house with them in his mouth for hours on end. Tony came home one day with me a cat tree of sorts. It looks like a large carpet covered scratching post with holes in it. Preston took to it right away but unfortunately, he had grown so much that he nearly got his fat butt stuck in it the first time he crawled inside. He sleeps on the top of it each night though. It is comical to see him lying on the top of it with his middle hanging through the hole.

Tony and I both agreed that 3 cats were more than enough to have in the house with us and that we were not going to get another, yeah right.
This past Sunday morning, June 18th, Fathers Day, at about 6:30 am, I was awakened by my dear sweet loving husband saying; We need your help!  He was out in the yard doing whatever he was doing at that time of the morning when our neighbor lady asked him to come over and look at something in her shed.  While they were in the shed, they heard a kitten crying. Out neighbor has 4 dogs that kill rats and have never been around cats before and she was afraid that they would kill the tiny black kitten that appeared out of nowhere. Her and her granddaughter and Tony tried to catch this kitten but it kept running off. I got on my housecoat and house shoes and out I went. I called the kitten and it came towards me but when I reached for it, it would bolt. I got Tony to go in, get some cat food, and put it down. When the kitten came to eat the food, I reached out like an idiot that I am and grabbed him.
He bit the sap out of my finger and thumb. I sort of pinned him to the ground until I could get the nap of his neck and I picked him up, took him inside, and by then Tony had a cage ready for me to put him in. I let him eat the food, he was starved. To make a long story short, the next thing I know, Tony has named this kitten Spooky because he looks like a Halloween Cat. Within an hour, Spooky was running through our living room playing with every toy he made contact with. The other cats were not amused. I have had him for 3 days now and he comes when I call his name, he has learned how to go out the cat door on to the back porch and in to the cat pen to do his business. He attacks our feet, hisses and spits at the dog and jumps and plays with Preston. It is as if he has lived here all his life. I was told, this is our last cat, and we are not going to have more than 4 in the house. Ok, now if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I want to sell to you. LOL
Spooky
Those are my cats and how I have acquired them and then we have our old faithful dog Gus aka Augustus McCray Norman. He is a rescue also. Tony found him on a deserted road back in October of 1991 while he was driving home from work. He was starved, had mange and pitiful looking. Tony stopped and when he opened the door, Gus climbed up in the truck with him. He brought him home, we fed him and gave him a bath and took him to the vet the next day. We had already said that we were not going to have a dog so Tony told me that he was going to fatten him up, get him healthy, and then find him a good home. Well we did. After 15 years, he is still here, in his good home.  There are so many stories to tell about Gus, it is unreal. He has been caught in a coyote trap, stomped by a bull, shot with buckshot,
Gus
bitten by a copperhead snake, fell out of the back of a truck and broke his tail, sprayed by skunks, and hit by a truck smashing his left foot and breaking nearly every bone in it. He loves kids and baby animals of all kinds but would kill a coyote in a minute. He has only had one accident in the house, when he was a puppy. He is smart and understands every word you say. One day he will be crossing to the bridge and it will be a very sad day for the whole family and half of our friends. Everyone loves Gus; he is just a special boy.
