Well, hi there...I'm CarebearI stumbled upon Acme CatChat in November, 2001 and when we were all set adrift last year when the rooms were closed, I was delighted to come along to the House of Cats....it's good to see so many familiar "faces" here....

I'm in my mid 40's, live in southern Ontario, work for the Board of Education, my big-hearted hubby is a Shipper/Receiver, we have a teenaged daughter who graduated highschool this year, and have been rescueing and fostering for about 9 years....i belong to a small group of foster mums who are terrific and have taught me so much about saving cats...and i am proud to say that with the help of my loving daughter and husband, we have personally rescued, and fostered to adoption over 60 precious furbabes...

Until last July 6th, we had 12 darlings in our household;   I held
                       my precious "
Nooshie" (our first love would have turned 9 yr. old
last July) in my arms while she  crossed over the bridge - she had breast cancer and managed to hang  on for 9 weeks after diagnosis...you never quite get over your first love, do you?  Nooshie was one of two luscious furbabes that live with us that weren't rescued by us....

Now, the rest:   Tater will be 9 in July, was found in a dumpster, the vet said he was in excellent health and is a black maine-coonish type of guy, very gentle...Zazu is one of four kittens that Nooshie and Tater had, he will be 8 in July, and is a solid black short hair who is shy, slightly crabby, but a real baby...Parfait is our 5 yr. old muted calico, tons of personality and was found flitting through a back garden chasing butterflies...Claire is a 5 yr. old silver grey/white tabby, very tiny & delicate, painfully shy but drools when loved-up...

Simone and Midda (mother and daughter) will both be 5 this year;  They were placed in a BAD foster home with 4 yr. olds who sprayed them with lysol, which will eventually blind Simone and caused burns in her throat - she is a mute, only whispers;  something was shoved into Midda's ear and her "balance" bubble was burst, she has very poor balance (easily falls from surfaces) -- Simone is a black & white "tuxedo" with bright green eyes and Midda is a light grey tabby, very tiny, with beautiful exotic green eyes...

Toby is a 5 yr. old classic brown tabby who is very large boned, he's the size of a jack russell terrier, he was rescued from a colony where he was found playing around his mother's body, she had been poisened, he is a true colony guy who's name derives from the fact he loves to bite toes, he bathes and comforts all the kittens who pass through here, a very tender soul...

Chooch & Dustie are 3 yr. old (a black maine-coonish guy and a short-hair russian blue girl) were from the same litter, both have chronic eye-muck and sneezes which have never cleared up but have never passed onto anyone else here...and finally Chiquitta and Willow are 3 now...two silver tabby beauties who we took from a group of mean boys who were trying to drown them under a back shed - they were starving, and covered in ticks...they both have a cyst growing over the iris of one eye, which made them unadoptable, and will make them each blind in one eye eventually...

Nooshie, Tater, Zazu, Toby and Parfait we fell in love with and adopted outright ourselves...the rest of these lovelies were unadoptable and we fell in love with them as well...

I believe every cat that has come my way is a gift from God, and it's my delight to be able to do whatever i can for them when we cross paths...there's no glory or glitz that goes with doing this...just the satisfaction in knowing you had a hand in saving a wonderful little life...
Okay....here goes!!!!  I am 51 years old and live in upstate New York with my hubby Tony, who also loves cats by the way!!  Reggie is 9 years old and I adopted her from a pet store......it was a small private store and the lady who ran it had rescued a bunch of abandoned kittens and Reggie was the last one!!  How could I resist her?  She's all black with a little white on her neck, long-haired.  She is a lover.  We call her "Cling-On" because she's very clingy!!  LOL.  Nike is about a year and a half old, female also.  We adopted her from our local shelter.  She was ALSO an abandoned kitten found in someone's garage.  Where Reggie has always been a lover, Nike has been very skittish.  The longer she lives with us the more affectionate she becomes. Sometimes she will even sit on my lap for a whole five minutes. She's a long-haired gray and white, very beautiful!!!  We call her "The Destroyer" because she loves to scratch places other than her scratching post but the thought of declawing would never cross my mind.

I work for an ophthalmologist full time and have been doing this for 20 years, hard to believe.

I came to Acme in August of 1999 looking for help for my angel kitty
Hershey who had megacolon and was about to undergo a sub-total colectomy.  I've been there every since and have met many wonderful folk.  The first person who responded to me was BarbaraB from Florida as her cat Rascal had recently had the same surgery and Barbara really helped me get through all my anxiety over the surgery and gave me a ton of information.  Barbara and I have become best buddies, we e-mail each other every day.  We have shared pictures of each other and our cats.  Interestingly, Hershey and Rascal looked like they could have been brother and sister.  I mean, these cats looked IDENTICAL.  And both have unusual markings, are great big part Maine Coon cats. We lost Hershey to complications of diabetes in April of 2001.  We still miss her so much but I thank the Lord that Hershey brought me to wonderful people like Barbara, yourself and all the other people at Acme.

So I bottle fed Fizz, Sammi, Pepsi and Minty (I named him Milkybar but the MIL decuded otherwise, and I was gonna keep him but she sold him instead) Fizz is a persian mix. Shes a dilute tortie, and has one hell of a tortitude. She likes to think she is very important, and always has to becenter of attention. I love her to pieces, and couldnt do without her. WhenI leave my student accomodation, I intend to get her some playmates as I am sure that she would love some other kitties to be foofy with.

Boardname: Cheryl - Fizz's Meowmie

I'm 19 and from South East England. Currently at Portsmouth University studying Computer Networking.

We had cats when I was younger, but I wasnt allowed another cat after we lost
Willow (our little black and white kitty) So when my fiancee (at the time, recently seperated) cat was found pregnant, I claimed 2 of the kittens before they were even born. This is how I came to be slave to my little Fizzybum.
Fizz's mom cat died when the kittens were just 2 weeks old, and in trying to find foster info, I came across Acme Cats Window. I am sure that the babies would not be here today without the support of you guys at Acme.

Brandy Pup....

Hi there, I am Connie, 35 and live in Atlanta with my hubby and 3 cats. (1 is technically a foster tho) and my dog Brandy.

Brandy is my pooch I found in California on Oct 15th, 1997. She was a stray, not claimed, took by a 'foster' and lost. I found her on death row 2 days before 'turkey' day and have had her since. She moved 2500 miles with me and my new hubby Brad.
Ringo is my first kitty. She was a pet store kitten with ringworm, hence her name. She was shelter bound and I couldn't let that happen so hubby and I took her in with the mission to make her well and find her a home. She found a home 3 weeks later when she was fully recovered, the home was with us. :) She will be 2 in Aug 03.

Bones
is my love kitty. She was also a pet store kitten that dramatic lost weight, became a skeleton and was very sick. After many vet trips we got her better and gaining weight. She was vaccinated and then regressed to the
sickly kitten again. Finally we got her better and kept her. She loved to just sleep on our chest. She knew we were suckers for a cutie. She will be 1 in Aug 03.
Marly is a stray that was found in Dec. 02. The people who found him couldn't shelter him due to allergies so I took him in. He was declawed and very dirty. Turns out he has seizures. After many many many tests (all except an MRI which is greatly recommended but totally unaffordable) he is on Phenobarbital and is finally responding  to treatment. He is a great cat. He needs a less stressful home through, but has to be perfect also. I consider him ours since he is special needs.

I work part time at a pet store that sells kittens people bring in. We accept from anyone except breeders. Mostly it's people who found kittens or do trap and release. Although I do not condone pet store animals I am trying to make a difference by using an adoption process and issue a s/n certificate with adoptions. Thanks in part to the vet and boss who are working with this idea. We do not sell dogs. I need to find a new job though as this one hurts the heart a great deal as the kittens are still seen as a profit (IE bag of food). the care is substandard if at all.

I found Acme a few years back. It was a wonderful 'family' and I am glad to be a part of the
new acme. All my animals are spayed/neutered.

Board Name:  Critter
Real Name:  Tammy

I am in my mid 40's, divorced, with
two children.  My son is an adult now and living on his own with two of his
own cats.  My daughter is still a teenager and living with me at least until she graduates in 2005. I am a Human Resources manager for a
RASCAL
ABBI
MISTY
manufacturing company in Wisconsin.  I've been with the company for 18 years as of 2003.  I have three furkids - Rascal, who is the big sisfur who buries everything and keeps the others in line, Abbi, who likes to fetch and is my spoiled brat, and Misty, who is very shy but loves attention on her terms.  I started going to the original Acme board when I found out my rainbow angel, Critter, was diagnosed with cancer.  I lost her in February of 1998.
I live in upstate New York in the Finger Lakes area, and am retired after working for 36 years for Cornell University. I was married for 32 years to a wonderful man who passed away after an accident a few years ago.
Casey's Mom....
Casey adopted me in September 2003 from the animal shelter where he had been for six months.  He had been rescued as a 4-5 year old abandoned cat and was discovered to have a severe wound in his neck (probably an attack from another cat in the wild) and it required considerable vet care by the
shelter.  It was all healed up fine when he decided to come home with me. He has had his problems in learning to be an inside cat only, but is doing his best to adjust. He is a very active kitty and loves to play. He is very aggressive to other cats, and prefers to be an only cat.
I love all animals, but am only allowed to have a cat where I live now.  I had a beautiful orange boy named Gizmo for 10 years.  He crossed the Bridge at the age of 18 in August 2003.  My hobbies are reading, listening to music and old classic movies.
