Roos
Most of the information listed here came from some photocopies of an old handwritten document given to me by my husband's grandmother, Helen Brass Bretherton.  I couldn't make out all the place names, but I have listed what I think they said!
ROOS INDIVIDUALS:
Meemke "Amanda" Roos was born May 27, 1862 at Rock Vale Township, Ogle County, Illinois.  She is the daughter of John J. Roos and Engelina Engelkes.  She married Wiard Ehmer Brass.  Children- Ella, Hattie, John, William K., Martha, Ehmer, Albert, Elmer, and two children, Andy and Memke, that died young.

I have a paper that has the following written by hand:
"I, Meemke Brass (nee Roos) was born in Rock Vale Township, Ogle County, Illinois on the 27th of May 1862.  My father's name was John J. Roos born in Visguard, Aut Eurden, East Friesia, Provinz Hannover, Germany.  My mother's name was Engelina Engelkes born in Eilsium, East Friesia, Germany on the 22nd of Dec. 1832."
John J. Roos was born in Visguard, Aut Eurden, East Friesia, Provinz Hannover, Germany.  He married Engelina Engelkes.  Children- Meemke.  John is found in some records as "Jan".
