Gray Brewery
Janesville, WI

Gray Brewery was visited on February 19, 2000.

We were welcomed and offered brew samples immediately as we stood in the mini, but comfortable, gift shop/tap/bar room.

The walls were lined with beer bottles from many different breweries & there was a display case containing the breweries historical items.

The brewery, which has been in the family since the mid 1800's, actually began as a bottling plant and brewed beer before prohibition but not again until 1994.

We learned that the great-great grandfather of Fred Gray, our tour guide, would drink a quarter barrel of beer on a Sunday . . . HIMSELF!

The tour was interesting and enjoyable!  After the tour we were again treated to some samplings of Pale Ale, Brown & Tan (my favorite), Honey Amber, and Grays famous soda.  We later tasted some of Gray's Irish Ale & Oatmeal Stout which was awesome.

Gray's was rated as a 'should not miss' Tour and Beer.
