| Each year, the Palouse Empire Rail
Society hosts a train swap meet at Beasley
Performing Arts Coliseum on the campus of Washington
State University in Pullman, WA. The swap meet is always held in March,
and is held either the first weekend or the second weekend of WSU’s
spring break.
The swap meet is a great chance for train buffs from around the Northwest (from as far away as Montana and Seattle) to get together to buy, sell, and trade trains and train memorabilia. Over half the merchandise is model train related, with HO and O being the dominant gauges. However, railroading books, button, prints, toys, and clothing are also sold, as well as antique rail memorabilia, such as dinnerware from passenger lines, railroad timetables, and railroad signs. You’ll never know what’s going to be at the next table! Each year, a raffle is held. Raffle prizes are usually an O or HO train set, but have also included excursion train tickets. The concession stand is open, and occasionally live music is played. Admission for the general public is $3,
with children under 12 admitted free. Come early to catch the good deals.
