SPECIAL PROJECT:
|
MONITORING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMMING
FOR THE MEDIA
The Mission of this Special Project is to provide to the
Media regular feedback on their reporting, and educational
materials so that they can do a better job of reporting, with
the aim of:
- 1. to increase the accuracy and unbias in reporting about
the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian people.
- 2. to increase empathy and interest in local events which
support the Palestinian movement for self-determination.

For activists working for the liberation of Palestine from Israeli oppression and exploitation,
educating the US media is one of the most important strategic tactics because:
- 1. It is one of the few areas where we can compete with the Zionists because
their greater financial and political resources means less to ethical journalists
than the truth, which supports the Palestinian POV. Even where a given Media
outlet is owned by Zionist sympathizers, there are many journalists and editors
that still follow the journalistic ethics they were trained with, if they
get the necessary information - which is our task.
- 2. The Media has tremendous influence over the American public.
- 3. The opposition is currently using the Media as a major distributor for its erroneous propaganda, so we need
to counter that.
The following organizations are doing Media work of different kinds:
- Electronic Intifada
- FAIR
- Institute for Middle East Understanding
- Palestine Media Project
- Palestine Media Watch
- WRITE
We feel work with Media is the most effective way to reach and educate the American
public for the reasons listed above. Please consider signing up for our weekly action
alerts, or contacting one of the other organizations listed below and get involved in
this tremendously satisfying form of activism.
