Remmy was a bit of a mystery for awhile. He was a red-haired kid who physically looked eight, but somehow gave the impression of being twenty years older. However, by #7, his life had become pretty well spelled out.

His parents met because they were both trainers, and are dead-set on their oldest son following in their footsteps. Remmy, however, didn't like that idea - having grown up with Pokmon happily retired from battle, he came to the conclusion that Pokmon didn't like to battle, and that they shouldn't be forced to.

So far, we haven't been given a very nice picture of Remmy's parents. They seem to spend their every waking moment rushing around, and rushing Remmy as well. (At least, that's his reason why he runs so fast.) Even though he didn't want to train Pokmon, he was forced to. ("My parents want me out. They want me gone. They said 'GO!', threw a backpack on me, and slammed the door." - from Pallet Pair #1)

Almost immediately, Remmy proved himself a master in the making. From his very first battle he has shown natural skill, which he dismisses as luck. Remmy seems self-conscious about being a trainer - he insists that his Pokmon win battles with their own skill, not his help. ("All I did was suggest what to do. They did it. It's their victory." - from Pallet Pair #4).

Remmy is undeniably lucky in one sense - catching Pokmon. Within his first week of training, he caught a Dratini while soaking his feet in a river. Then, while in Mount Moon, he tripped over a Clefairy, which not only saved him and Ivonar from being lost for goodness knows how long, but gained him another rare Pokmon.
