Ivonar always knew she wanted to be a Pok�mon trainer. She never realized it would take so long, though! Eevee was stalled from her dream of training Pok�mon for two years, for two separate reasons. When she was ten, she came down with the flu and could not get a starter Pok�mon. Then, when she was eleven, she broke her leg a month before she was supposed to go, when she stepped on one of her brother's action figures and fell down the stairs. On the plus side, her brother gave her Nuisance, a Psyduck he had found, because he felt guilty (and also because he found the Psyduck extremely annoying, which made it perfect for his sister).

Ivonar's troubles didn't end when she finally did get her starting Pok�mon. One of the first things she did to her Charmander was offend her. When she tried to convince her mother to allow her to take Nuisance with her, her mother made her take the family's Persian, whom Ivonar had never gotten along with, as well. After a nearly disastrous "raid" of a Beedrill nest, her Spearow evolved into a Fearow she feared would never listen to her. However, as time went on, Ivonar started to feel comfortable in her goal, earning the respect of her Pok�mon, and learning to trust herself as she gained their trust as well.

Before they started training together, Ivonar didn't know that much about Joey "Remmy" Remshaw. She knew that he was the most down-to-earth of the other three trainers, though possibly the oddest as well. She also knew that her mother always called him "that red-haired kid". Beyond that - and the fact that he called her "Old Lady" as much as the other two did - she honestly didn't know him. She let him come with her, figuring she could stand his company for the couple of months he planned to be out. That he would become at once her greatest rival and closest friend never occurred to her.

Ivonar is a brash, impatient tomboy, occasionally prone to making decisions quickly and not thinking them through, though one thing she has learned is that rushing in can lead to big trouble. She is also stubborn and sometimes single-minded. Her faults are balanced by a big heart and the ability to admit to, and learn from, her mistakes. When stuck, she has no qualms about asking for help, as she knows it will make her stronger (and that to put off asking could lead to even bigger problems). Very time-conscious, she hates to wait or procrastinate (unless it's something she doesn't want to do, like do chores or homework). She doesn't tend to overreact, except when she is upset.
