Pam and Larry Legault, Palarset Irish Setters

Larry's memory of a favorite dog was their crossbred "Tramp" who lived a very long life and was a full-fledged member of his family, including being in the pictures of his sister's wedding party. Pam's Dad was in the RCAF and so the family didn't always have dogs due to travels. However a Collie "Robbie" was Pam's best friend while living in Nova Scotia. Years beforethat an Irish Setter that lived next door in Comox, B.C. made Pam "always want an Irish Setter". As soon as we bought our first home, the search was on. That innocent first inquiry has snowballed, the next size home was bought, and now Irish Setters totally run our lives. Poor Larry had no idea what he was in for when we went looking for "just a family Irish".

This was our first Christmas portrait and poor Mom was dismayed we included our dog!

The portrait studio didn't think they wanted to do a sitting with two Irish Setters "because they're hyper, you know". They agreed to give us a chance and after we were done, thanked us for having such well behaved and sensible dogs."If people would only have such well-behaved kids". These are our first Irish Setters, Putter and Zarife.

"Bonding". This such a neat photo. I have so many pictures of Larry asleep with the cats or dogs and he never has a clue they've been taken. This is a puppy from Jethro and Lacy. Really cute.

Our family with a human family at the Home and Garden Show. We took pictures of the same family at the same show last year and the older kids (and their parents too) were looking for us and got so excited when they saw we were there again.

At Palarset we strive for healthy Irish Setters that have wonderful temperaments and will be versatile enough for whatever their new owners wish.Whether that means the show ring, obedience ring, visitation, agility, flyball or hunting, they should be able to participate as members of their family and be a credit to our marvellous breed. But most important of all is that this is an intelligent dog that must be a full family member that is loved for itself, not what it may accomplish. You mean I have to share that bed/couch??? Yes, we admit it - our dogs and cat are totally spoiled and we wouldn't have it any other way, at least most times.
