During the construction, a gravelbed surrounding the house was made for drainage. In stead of hedges or fences a similar gravelbed is used as a horizontal frame for the border of the garden. By this the garden is defined, but not enclosed. Big parts of the garden are visual from the street.
By introducing surfaces for parking (A: gravel) and a terras (B: brick), the garden is divided into four parts, with their own atmosphere and materials. A pattern of hedges underlines the view from house and garden in the direction of the river. They form a connection between house, garden and landscape. The paving material, gravel and brick, are both materials from the river. Also the hedges are common in the floodplanes of the river. In this way the garden is connected with the site; a riverlandscape.
