Painted Horse

Painted Horse is perhaps the only rock band that claims to have actually met a hairier version of itself in a cave. The music is a heavenly blend of dirty rock & roll and raw poetic imagery. This trio combines tribal rhythms, hump’n seasick bass grooves and sticky-white-hot guitar riffs that tease you into wanting more, louder, harder, faster. Crowning this crude cacophony, the lyrics boldly conjure mythological creatures, spirits, pioneers, and legends of the past to convey the cruel realities of human emotion.

The theme is consistent: all that is real will die slowly and painfully, so give your hearts to the hour, let it’s history fall away, lay down your promise and prime before black powder, now close those eyes and seize the day.

Background

Painted Horse started with Bald Eagle and Native Sun playing assorted messes in the summer of 2000. Desperately in need of some talent, the band recruited Wolfman Chachee. They are located in NE, and mostly play around, the Boston metropolitan area. The band has undergone major transformations since its inception, including departing, incoming members and several name changes. If you would like a CD you can order one here or download the songs - check out the Music page. From Bald Eagle: "I'm a nice guy. I've been a nice guy for some time now. Most nice guys get effed over alot by bad chicks, but I do ok. It's because I put my faith in the lord's good hands. Thats why, he only sends me nice chicks. But it wasn't always so easy. I wasn't always a nice guy and I wasn't always a Painted Horse. My career in music started way back in highschool when I became the singer for a punk band called Quark (the smallest band known to man!) We had a nice time (with lots of fun!) Oh well, I sure have learned my lesson! Thanks for showing interest in Painted Horse and I hope you liked hearing about my life. Bye bye!" Bald Eagle has recently graduated with an MFA in painting from BU and lives by himself in the middle of nowhere.

Native Sun is the guitarist for painted horse and an experimental film artist. He was raised deep in the woods of Northern Maine, and to this day, only knows 16 letters of the alphabet. He is currently enrolled in a film program at Bard.

Wolfman Chachee is the drummer for Painted Horse. Aside from dissolving quarrels, providing bail, transportation, song creation, production and teaching the other members of Painted Horse what and how to play their respective instruments, he also works out three times a day while pursuing formal knowledge in Rhode Island.
