Pythons
Pythons make a great pet, they are pretty easy to care for and generally are very good eaters. Most people find that Pythons are one of the easiest snakes to handle and youngsters can be trained from an early age. Handling a juvenile, at least twice a week, will ensure it grows to be comfortable around a human hand!
Of course, as with most snakes, anything that moves by quickly will risk being bitten... either in self defence, or as a mistaken meal! Beginners are best to handle pythons with care. Juveniles will strike readily but don't hurt.
You must take care if a young python does bite onto your finer, not to pull away quickly as injury to the snake can occur.  At Pails for Scales, we breed a variety of pythons and have a large number of beautiful specimens in stock.
Here is a list of some of the pythons we can keep in Victoria.

We sell a lot of pythons at Pails for Scales and adhere to our own strict selling guidelines. We ensure that every snake is in its peak of health and is readily eating. Juvenile pythons are fed a selection of live and frozen pinkies and adults will generally take rats and mice. We will not sell an animal that does not eat properly. We care more about the health of an animal than we do our bottom line. Its not uncommon for a snake to refuse to eat after moving into a new home. It could take up to a month, so be patient! It's best to let it settle, undisturbed for a few days before attempting to feed.
Always make sure your snake has a good hiding place, a decent sized water bowl and a few items to climb. This of course is in addition to the basic heat and cage set up.
See our Set Up page for more details.
If you buy a reptile from us and it doesn't eat, we'll gladly
